“Awesome Resort-Great Location”

We stayed for two weeks with eight friends and really enjoyed this resort! Perfect location and a short cab ride to Playa del Carmen! The pools were awesome and the beach was enjoyable as well.

Restaurants and buffet was great however, I really wish Riu would change their reservation system for the reservable restaurants. No complaints about the food or variety of food although by the end of two weeks, it does get repetitive.

Rooms were beautifully decorated but some nights the hallways were rather loud with drunk guests trying to make their way to their rooms. The halls echoed alot!

The grounds are expansive, beautiful and well kept. The property was well taken care of. While we were there, we walked to the other Riu's in the area and checked them out. Riu Palace Riviera Maya is definitely the first class, top of the line resort that it claims to be.

The staff was friendly and welcoming and we always felt we were coming home when we arrived back from our excursions.

I highly recommend this resort and I believe it is a first class resort with amazing amenities. As a travel agent I would feel totally comfortable sending clients to this beautiful resort!

“Impressive place!”

We stayed there for 5 nights - and overall we were impressed with the place. We requested for an upgrade but denied as the receptionist told us that the hotel was quite full during our stay. We were given room facing the neighboring resort which is OK since it was very quiet and close to the lobby.

Some positive aspects are: excellent wait staff, great beach, safe location, relaxing piano bar, varied nightly entertainment, very clean.

We were lucky to get reservation at different a la carte restaurants but were pretty much disappointed at how salty all of the food were. i think it's better if we would have just used the main dinner buffet. We also noticed that there is a limited selection of seafood- fish, shrimps, clams, lobster, crab legs. If you are a meat lover then this is an excellent place for you.

The other thing worth mentioning is that this hotel is not good for singles as most visitors are family or couples. WIFI can be difficult to connect from 5-7pm as most people are in the lobby using it. other times are ok.

“Amaaaaaazing!”

Loved everything about this place. We stayed in a jacuzzi suite and it was potentially the best hotel room I have ever been in. The staff here are soooo frendly, the beach is one of the best ever, and the food, aah the food - I gained 5kg after I stayed at this place for only 4 days! And I'm a very fussy eater - the Brazilian wasn't that good though, stay away from that. Plus it's a nice walk away from 10th av in playa. Perfect!

“Any negative complaints and maybe you are the problem not the resort”

First I will start by saying my wife and I were here for our honeymoon in november. Upon arrival this hotel looked amazing. As our week continued we were continually impressed by ever single aspect of this hotel. From the service to the food everything was great. I read people complaining about everything from hard beds to birds I mean come on as far as the birds and musty smell YOU ARE in a tropical place they do have birds and there is humidity find something else to complain about I think that is the problem there is NOTHING to complain about. Great stay with great people and great culture we will be back soon. Thanks for the memories and for making it an unbelievable honeymoon

“Wonderful property; Excellent Service. Headed Back Again!”

As a first time visitor to the Riu Palace Riviera Maya, I did not know what to expect upon my arrival. However, I must say that for my entire 6 night stay, I was simply amazed at the level and quality of service provided from the moment I arrived to the moment that I checked out. In addition, the overall quality of the property, the attention to details within the rooms and grounds areas, and the abundance of amenities within the resort give the property a great personal touch that makes it a wonderful place to be surrounded by while vacationing.

The pool and adjacent areas were meticulously cleaned several times per day, as were all other common areas. Also, the rooms were cleaned at least two times per day, and turndown service was standard.

The standard rooms, which are all junior suites, were nicely appointed, and came fully stocked with everything one could possibly need during their holiday away from home.

Each restaurant offered quite nice food selections, however our least favorite was the steakhouse, but this was just out of personal preference. Believe it or not, the dinner buffet was one of the best ones that one might encounter at an all-inclusive!

The pool and beautiful beach overlooking the stunning turquoise waters were always stocked with an abundance of chairs for the taking, and we encountered no problems securing the perfect spot on any occasion. Again, service at these areas for drinks was impeccable, and the servers were super friendly!

**The ONLY negative that we encountered at the property is the LACK of wifi in the rooms. To use wifi, you must be in the hotel lobby, which is a bit of an inconvenience, but not really that big of a deal. Other than that one minor glitch, there were no other complaints to speak of.

Overall, great trip...would highly recommend to anyone headed to Playa del Carmen. The serenity and peaceful atmosphere there is one of a kind, and you are sure to have a fantastic holiday!

Room Tip: Garden view rooms on the back side are very quiet rooms and actually have a very peaceful view and h...
