“Wonderful Vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

We had one of the few beachfront rooms at the resort, and it was terrific. Steps from the beach, not a big hotel but rather individual units for a very island feel. I think I would have enjoyed the vacation less if we were in one of the 'jungle' view units. There is a river running through and it's pretty gross to think about falling into, yet somehow adds charm.

We were there on my husbands company's sales incentive trip, and it's a terrific spot for a big group. The company threw huge lavish parties every night with entertainment and over the top food and drink.

The service is just outstanding at this resort, which has been my experience overall in Mexico. The ratios of guests to service personnel are shocking.

Room Tip: Go for the beachfront unit!

“Peaceful, quiet, and beautiful.”

We just got back from Myakoba and had a wonderful time. Our room was a peaceful casita on the canal. It was spacious, clean, and extremely well-maintained. Getting around the property can be tricky at first but you het the hang of it. If you can find a bike, take advantage of it. We tried all three resteraunts, very expensive, but the food was wonderful and worth it. It does take extra time so be prepared. Try to snag your beach chairs in the morning If you want shade and you might want to grab your drink before you walk down because it may take them a little while to get to you. Overall the staff was extremely friendly and we really enjoyed our stay.

“Great Food and Service”

WOW . . . the staff at the Fairmont give the Ritz a run for their money in the guest services department. From the valet, to the desk clerks, maintenance and housekeeping, restaurant and bar servers to the pool attendants. . . all are trained with the guest top of mind. Their expertise in their areas is top notch, the training they have recieved first rate and their knowledge impressive.

The rooms are very comfortable, well appointed, cleaned and organized several times through out the day. We stayed in their "Fairmont Room" which is just their typical accomodation . . . but not at all disappointed. Peso for peso . . . great value for your money!! Black tie lodging at blue jean prices!!

“Simply wonderful!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Wonderful, friendly resort in Playa Del Carmen. Has everything you need in the resort, including some great vegetarian meals, abundance of pools and relaxation areas, and lovely spa. Buggies help you get around and to the beach, or take one of the complimentary bikes!! Fantastic margaritas and the friendliest staff I have ever met. Will be going back!! Tip: ask for a lagoon facing room & be careful using the phone, can get pricey!

“A great alternative to Cancun.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We decided to go to the "Mayan Riveria" and stay at the Mayakoba Fairmont. As expected, this is a five star facility and it lives up to its name. My wife and I especially liked the rooms with their privacy and the open shower. Took some getting use to at first but loved the natural light.

The breakfast was incredible with a lot of variety. What really got us was the guacamole. The best I have ever had and we ordered it every day.

The beach was very nice and windy. I liked the wind while my wife did not care for it as much.

The pools are incredible and seem to be all over the resort.

Since my wife and I are not really big partiers, I liked staying here versus being in Cancun.

Room Tip: I liked the second floor. Made me feel more confortable with the natural light shower.
