This is my third visit to Hotel Mimi. All have been with husband, 80 yr. old mom and me. Last 2 years the owner and his family were also there and it was delightful, very good for the price and quality. This year it was Very Trying. It seems that the Bar manager runs the place. He sends guys out to solicite people not from Hotel to rent lounge chairs. For $10 they get use of pool, outdoor shower and bathroom. Everyday there were at least 10-20 screaming children splashing, running around in the very small pool from 9-5 or later. A family from another hotel rented 1 chair and there were 15 people. They were in the pool and shower all day. We tried to sit on our patio but left for some peace. We twice could not get lounge chairs because all had been rented. For $150 a night I felt taken. I finally asked the bar manager if at some point we as guest could use the pool without the public. He did reluctantly and ordered me in the pool because he did me a favor!!!WHAT???? Next year I will choose another hotel, maybe pay $45 for one on a side road and go rent a lounge chair at Mimi all day.

My review does not deal with my stay at Mimi. We have styaed there 3 times and enjoyed each stay. The location can not be beat and the staff is wonderful. I hatged to see Rene leave as Mgr. His absence has led to a less efficient operation. My complaint deals with my efforts to arrange a vacation for 2012. I sent 4 differnet e-mails to Mimi Del Mar and not a one of them was responded to. I decided to look elsewhere. I hope to someday return to Mimi, but they gotta get their act together!

We have stayed at several hotels Prelicano, El Faro before it was tore down, this fell right between the 2 for service. We stayed in room 301 and had a direct view of the ocean. the room was clean and in good repair, the bathroom was small but had good water pressure and lots of hot water. We had clean linens and towels every day and the room was cleaned very well. 5 of 7 mornings we got a free americano breakfast and the other 2 we had Continental. On the beach we learned to keep beach towels till we got clean ones they were not always available. I was kind of surprised when we arrived they wanted payment in full CASH. luckily I had paid the deposit on pay pal and was able to pay the balance on pay pal. check your total they tried to charge me 8 nights and I was only staying 7, she tried to say it was by days and not nights, after talking about it and showing my confirmation she agreed. but all in all we loved the small hotel beach experience. No need to go out 6:00 am to reserve chairs

Mimi is still a cool place- (our third stay) but- Ownership is cost cutting and let the manager go - (Rene- a really good guy)-consequently service quality is down -overheard more than one guest questioning why they were not receiving the usual free breakfast, etc.--and Mimi -at least at the time- was only taking cash- they did offer pay pal as a way to pay, but it's all a little strange-several guests making trips to the ATM at check out time, Otherwise - still a perfect location and nicer,clean place to stay in P.D.C. Really hope ownership gets everything back on track-
