My wife and I booked this boutique hotel on the recommendation of a local friend back in Colorado since their place had no vacancy. The process was simple on-line. We are somewhat of control freaks for our vacations as we get them so rarely so we did a little research. We have done the all-incl thing a few times and our last experience was on Cozumel and wasn't pleasant. We like a peaceful setting but not isolated and are somewhat adventurous - but not when it comes to sleeping! We knew nothing of Playa other than passing through on our way to Cozmel and had a mixed feeling about it but at our friends insistence and description of the 5 th ave district and beach proximity, we took a flyer. Wow are we glad we did. The hotel could not be anymore perfectly located between 5 th and Mamitas beach or about 2 min to either. Despite all the construction going on across the street which stops between 5 pm and 9 am, it is a peaceful little oasis. The staff are friendly, local, and very welcoming. The hotel itself has about 18 rooms and all have a small fridge and sink. The suites have full kitchens I am told. There is made to order breakfast each morning that they charge a modest amount for but the daily pass to Mamitas Beaach Club more than makes up for this. As well, they offer 1/2 price passes to The Gym, a new, fully equipped health club 5 min away which I used a lot while there (it rained quite a bit!). Our room was right above the little eating/bar area and we seldom heard anything. It is 1/2 a block to 5th st pedestrian district with the most amazing coffee (Au Cocao) within stumbling distance. This is a very international district and the guests spoke many languages. The central courtyard and pool is for relaxing around, not really swimming. The established tropical foliage just adds to the charm. If you are looking for a place to put your feet up amidst a very happening international scene, this is perfect. It is not Lap of Luxury but for the price, it can't be beat. We will definitely return. Bring your own pillow if you are a finicky sleeper like me!
Room Tip: Get a room away from the street to the north. Construction across the street starts 830-9 am
