Based on website information, we were under the impression that our room would have a fridge and that a continental breakfast was provided.
The fridge was in the main hall of the building, and there was no breakfast. In addition, our air conditioner didn't work, the 'ocean view' was of a sliver of horizon, there was a window to the hallway with a curtain so thin you could see through it into our room, and the door fit so poorly that it looked very easy to break into even when locked. We were on our honeymoon, and unwilling to sacrifice comfort and security for cost savings. I would recommend it only to someone staying one or two nights, who was on a budget. It was only sufficient, and in my opinion does not rate its three stars (though I didn't see the 1 and 2 star hotels to compare!). They were pleasant when we checked out and we left satisfied with the arrangement.

The service from the start was terrible. My girlfriend had paid for our reservation in advance, yet when i arrived at the hotel i was told that I had to wait since the guests from the night before hadn't checked out - it was 3pm when this occured. they offered me a downgrade room as they best that they could do. i accepted because i was tired and frustrated. Second, they accepted my credit card and payment (i forgot that we had already paid for the room) and didn't notify me that the room had already been booked and paid for. I am currently attempting to get a refund for the additional amount I had paid and haven't received it as of yet, despite numerous assurances that it was happening.

We stayed at the Cohiba in early Feb. 2003 for six nights. The staff was extremely helpful with directions, advice on attractions and eating suggestions. The rooms and public areas were immaculate, though a little dated. The staff (Julio) arranged a boat charter for snorkeling and fishing (caught two huge red snapper) and the boat captain took our fish to a restaurant just off the beach where we consumed it(well, part of it) for lunch. We found a bed light to be inoperative but it was rewired within the hour. We'll return next winter.

The hotel is at a great location and is nice but the room that we were staying was broke into and the safe deposit box was stolen. But the door was locked when we returned to our room to find that it had been broken into. So this leaves me with one conclusion, it was an employee of the hotel. To make matters worse, we talked to the owner of the hotel, and he would do nothing for us and did not even apologize, but he sure did try to charge us $300.00 dollars for the safe deposit box that was stolen! I would not recommend to stay there, it's not safe.
