The staff are thieves! We were meant to stay hear and needed to cancel the hotel so went into Deseo in person and paid the cancellation fee in cash. They then charged our credit card and denied ever receiving the mpney in cash. Yes, we should have got a receipt but it did not occur to us they they would be so untrustworthy. The guy at the front desk just earned himself a large and undeserved tip (about $400).
We did go upstairs for a drink and if you think you are really cool and want to prance around and feel beautiful then stay here, otherwise give it a miss. The cocktails were also very average and very expensive.

I am sad to say this, but our stay at Deseo has been the worst of our hotels stays in Mexico (5 hotels in total).
The room looked great at first sight, but too many things did not work properly : leaking air conditioning, inconsistent toilet flush, broken TV remote control and poor TV reception, no hair dryer, very poor breakfast. Overall, a very poor value for money feeling when we left the hotel.

Overall the hotel is nice. Clean rooms, friendly service, centrally located but this is not a hotel for relaxing. Their priority is to have a party atmosphere. Music is playing all day and progressively gets louder through the night.
Very annoying.
If you like a party scene and not concerned about sleep then this is a hotel for you. Oh and then there is the problem of Playa del Carmen itself... But that is a whole other problem.
Stay clear.

We LOVED this hotel and will definately be going back. We're 2 girls in our 20's and this hotel was perfect for us, everything about it is great, the rooms, the pool, the location, its really cool and really comfortable. What we loved most were the staff. The hotel managers and the bartenders are all great, really really friendly and fun to talk to and will help you with anything you need. Santiago at the front desk was fantastic, helped us with everything we needed and was really friendly.There is always great music playing which you can switch on into your room. The drinks at the bar are delicious, i can't wait to go back!! I know alot of people say its noisy, but we didnt have any trouble sleeping at all. Everything about this hotel is perfect.
