“Good Value”

We stayed here for 3 nights in February 2012 on the recommendation of my husband's cousin who had stayed here before. It's a nice small hotel with a terrific location for enjoying the beach, Cozmel and the thriving commerical/resturant/shopping area. The rooms are clean and servicable, with bottled water included. There was plenty of hot water and the A/C worked very well. Our room had a window towards the street (we were on the 3rd floor), that was double-paned so no street noise came through. Our room had an open floor plan with a bath alcove. I would inquire about the layout of the larger rooms if planning on bringing children. The common areas are kept tidy and are attractive to sit or sun yourself. They had a pool for children and adults.

I would not go for an all-inclusive package here because there are so many excellent resturants in the commercial area. The included breakfast -coffee, juice, bread/roll- was quite basic. The coffee was stellar, does anything much else matter? We needed a bigger breakfast so we could have a late lunch after snorkling so we also ordered eggs/fruit off the menu. They were moderately priced with portions to suit an American (another day we split a breakfast burrito) and quite good.

We had dinner one night at the Cafe, seafood paella, which was what we expected. The menu has a good variety of items typical of the area, but as I said, many other resturants are really excellent so the small cafe has a lot of competition. For breakfast or a snack it's tops.

All in all I would recommend this for those who do not want an isolated resort experience. The location in the town is key to it being an interesting place to stay. I felt for the money it was an excellent value and a good location for beach, shopping, snorkling and site seeing.

Room Tip: Families may prefer to stay in the area closer to the children's pool. There is no elevator and...

“Loved, loved it here! Going back in October.”

My husband and I stayed here for 7 nights in September. We couldn't have been happier with our decision. We were on a budget and for us, this was perfect. The grounds are beautiful and feel very "Mexican"; very green and lush. We did the all-inclusive plan and felt it was WELL worth the money. The food was good, as was the service. Our room was very clean and spacious and had a small balcony overlooking the street. It was fun to watch the locals go about their lives. We tipped our maid a couple of dollars a day and we always had clean towels, bottles of water, etc. Our bathroom had a door, though I've read that many rooms don't. There wasn't a bathtub but the shower was extra large (plenty of room for 2 :) ) and we had plenty of hot water and the water pressure was fine. The pools are small but perfect for cooling off or laying by them and I rarely saw anyone in them. The beach was no more than a 5 minute walk and the water in the ocean was so warm! We used the Kool beach club because it was free and had no problems. The waiters walk around often asking if you want drinks but not overly annoying. The most annoying were the locals asking if you want a massage, but a firm no is all it takes and they move on. The hotel arranged an excursion to Coba and that was amazing and well done. We also had them arrange for a taxi when we left and it was there waiting for us 10 minutes early. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We even went out to dinner one night with Andrea, the bartender, (who is WONDERFUL by the way) to a local restaurant down the beach that she recommended. My husband and I are going back in October so that should really say it all!

“First time in Mexico, first time doing all inclusive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Just returned from 11 nights at this hotel. My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this small hotel. The location is excellent and we didn't need to rent a car. The rooms (we had to move our last night since we added one more night) were clean, clean and comfortable. AC worked well in both rooms. WiFi available in a couple different common areas but in our first room we had for the majority of our stay we had no trouble with wifi in the room. Water pressure in the showers was good. Toilets flushed fine. Beds are a little firmer than we prefer but we were able to sleep fine. We opted for all inclusive which was new for us and other than a couple of very minor hiccups it was great! We definitely felt like we got our monies worth. We went to both beach clubs the hotel has passes for. Kool Beach was closer but busier and like others said the pass relegates you to the plastic chairs versus the nicer wood ones but honestly it wasn't a big deal. Indigo beach club was smaller and quieter though a little further from the hotel. We liked the feel of Indigo but the beach at Kool was nicer in our opinion.

The menu at the hotel restaurant which is the one you go to for the all inclusive had a good amount of offerings including pasta, seafood and mexican. Lunch menu was a little small but okay. They make a great burger at lunch time! We generally found the food very good with an occasional inconsistency but nothing horrible. The servers are very nice though service is a little slow so do not be in a hurry.

Clientele was very mixed with regards to age and gender though we noticed many couples and just a few families with kids. They have two small pools but they are adequate for lounging in and around and are kept clean. Grounds are very well kept. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 1401 which was a honeymoon suite and it was a great size with a small couch and lo...

“Great location, beautiful grounds”

I love this little place on a side street right off the main drag. Once you step inside past the office/entryway, you notice the small, winding pathways moving through small pools and lush vegetation. Stairways are spiraled and the whole place feels relaxed.

Our room was perfectly clean and secure. The continental breakfast the next morning in the open-air bar was nice and enough to get us going. I would seek this hotel out if I am back in Playa again.

“Such a pleasant place!”

We stayed 6 nights and enjoyed each one. We had a lovely, clean, room. Perhaps it needed a little redesigning, but it was very comfortable and suited us perfectly. The grounds are impeccably kept and are just so easy on the eyes.

The location is 1/2 block from the main strip, though our interior room was quiet. I think a room on the exterior of the hotel would be quite noisy.

Room Tip: We stayed in the honeymoon suite.
