“Good Value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2007

If you are looking for a cheap place to sleep this is it...no extra frills. The rooms were basic but clean. One out of the three rooms we reserved had hot water...the others had luke warm water most of the time. Air conditioning was good for all but one day. The staff was friendly and helpful. The beach out front is lacking...lots of seaweed and boats but if you don't mind getting through that not bad. Their chair selection on the beach is pretty rough...lots of them were broken! Would we stay again? Probably...the price was right and I think we could have got them down on that too if we had known that most places were not to full capacity...we stayed feb 8-19th. They will be tearing this hotel down in April though...yet another mega complex will be built in Playa.

Stayed February 2007

“nice beach and close to all places to go out”

We stayed in the standard room of this hotel for 5 nights and it was great. Very clean and spacy rooms, free deck-chairs and towels on the beach. Although it was almost next to a club you didn't hear the noise in the room. With a fan and AC it was equipped perfectly. I would surely go back there. I think one of the best deals directly on the beach and around the area.

“The happiest place on Earth”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2007

We stayed at the Blue Beach over New Years. We had an upstairs beach front bungalow and our friends stayed in one of the rooms facing the street. Overall we loved it. The location couldn't be better, the beach is one the few left with palm trees, so you can get a little shade during the afternoon. Everyone is very friendly. There is construction going on, but like someone else mentioned this is Playa del Carmen. The rooms are basic but clean. The restaurant next door was fun to have for those mandatory drinks and guacamole. We would definitely go back but we have heard that the property sold and will probably be torn down so hurry up and go if you want to experience the Blue Beach.

“Loved the beach front bungalow!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2006

We stumbled upon this place while looking for a room for a few nights on the beach in Playa before we came home. We were able to stay in #11 bungalow for two nights. It is right on the beach looking out at Cozumel and the shipping lane. Lots of small fishing boats are tied up along the beach here. We paid $100 US/night tax included-you'll be paying more than that by December! Our room had two double beds, coffee table with two of the hardest couches that I've ever sat on! Had to call and have the shower serviced immediately-not only no hot water, but no water at all! Anyway, they came and fixed it but we never had lots of hot water or pressure in the bungalow. Bulk bottled drinking water is available near the office. The beach was cleaner than it was 15 years ago when we visited this area. Better than expected snorkeling right out front of the hotel. There is a lot of construction ongoing on two sides of this place with lots of workers hanging around and materials being delivered. We turned the AC on at night and never heard a thing! Security was heavy with police there 24 hours/day-not quite sure what happened but I guess that something went on a day or two before our arrival. We never felt threatened though and walked to restaurants several evenings. Parked our car near the office and never had a problem with vandalism. Had to move to a standard room on our third night because the bungalow had been previously reserved-the std room was clean and roomy and cost $70 US w/tax included-lots of hot water there for the shower. They have some nice suites too for around $80. These come with larger fridges and kitchenettes. You may get a better deal with a package deal, but if you just happen to be looking for a night or two, you might check this place out.

  • Liked — Bungalow 11 is right on the beach!
  • Disliked — Lots of construction going on; too many idle workers hanging around.
  • Tips/Secrets — If you're satisfied with the price you are paying, than I'd stay here. But I'd shop around a little before rebooking. This is not real close to the ferry or bus terminal if you want to use those services or especially have to schlep luggage. Lots of taxis though!

“Very happy with our stay”

We where very happy with the Blue Beach Hotel!

We had a one bedroom apartment on the beach!! There is continuing construction across the street from the hotel but if you request a room on the beach you wont hear a thing!!

Rooms where basic but clean and comfortable.

Staff where very friendly and helpful. There was a happy hour everyday and reasonably priced food.

The hotel has a very relaxed atmosphere not for someone looking for a luxury getaway!

We had a brilliant holiday would definitely stay again!

  • Liked — Location to the beach and the town!
  • Disliked — The rooms have seen better days but the price reflects that!
  • Tips/Secrets — Get a room facing the beach as there is construction on the other side of the hotel , bungalows are great but have no A/C
