“Nice hotel located in the heart of PDC”

The hotel is in a great location except it's in the same block as the nightclub; CocoBongo. On Thurs., Fri. and Sat nights it's impossible to sleep no matter where your room is located. It's VERY loud until 6:00am so bring your ear plugs.
The staff is very pleasant and nice but I have to agree with another reviewer that they just smile and pretend to seem like they care.
The pool area is very relaxing and the pool table is a nice feature for something different to do. They had great music playing the day we arrived and then nothing for the rest of our 8 day stay. They said they had a problem with the music. Too bad because it set the mood.
The information they provide is very vague. We were not even aware that breakfast was included at Mosquito Beach. We took advantage of the chairs, towels, facilities etc. at the beach which was a plus to have. One problem on the beach is that the beach has lost so much sand that there isn't enough beach property for all the beds and lounge chairs.
We stayed in a Junior Suite which was very nice. Plenty of closet space and shelves.
My negetive comments on the room are;
They don't provide hair conditioner and lotion
Air conditioner was hard to maintain a comfortable temperature.
No fitted sheet on the bed which was uncomfortable
Minimal electrical outlets
Low lighting
safe was on the floor of the closet.

We enjoyed our stay but I can't say it was perfect. There are probably better options in PDC.

Dear Jay K, Thank you for your review of our hotel. We are located in the heart of Playa del Carmen with many activities around, yet we strive to make Mosquito Blue an oasis of relaxation for our guests. Around the time you were here, there were many festivities related to the BPM Music Festival, a huge event with thousands of people that descends yearly on Playa del Carmen. At other times, there are special events that make the Fifth Avenue bustling. I am sorry that this affected your stay.

We're glad you enjoyed the pool area. There was an issue with the amplifier that took three days to repair and we had the music you enjoyed up and running after that. With regards to breakfast, we actually offer a small breakfast of tea/coffee and fruits at Mosquito Blue as well as the breakfast at Mosquito Beach. We tell this to incoming visitors and it is also on the receipt when you confirm your reservation with us.

We wanted to let you know that we value the effort of reviewers and use the compliments and criticism to maintain a high quality of service. Thank you.

“what a great gem in the middle of town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

we happened upon mosquito blue quite by accident, actually hadn't even planned on staying in PdelC for the night. however, after enjoying a day of sun, fun, and cocktails, we decided we wanted to spend the following day in town, and didn't want to trek all the way back and forth from cancun. finding mosquito blue sealed the deal for us. they had a lovely standard room available for a decent price ($149) including breakfast at mosquito beach the following morning, loved the layout of the property (wished we had more time to spend there and perhaps even dine at their very chic restaurant), and i love bulgari amenities, so that was an added delight.
only damper on the evening, a bar lounge one block away stays open until the wee hours (well past 4am) with LOUD music, which made sleep a little disturbed.
breakfast buffet the following morning was quite good, and we were also entitled to a lounge bed on the beach, included in the total price.
all in all, a great find.

“Excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

After reading some of the reviews I was terrified to stay here, thankfully we did. This is the most beautiful place we have ever been (we are very discriminating). Our initial room at the "Blue" was not too great (street view, extra firm matteress) however the staff upgraded us right away and we actually ended up in a room with a balcony overlooking the back pool. Pedro is the best and will assist with anything you need. There is a front pool (some noise) and a back pool (very quiet). Coffee and fresh fruit is served at 8am in the common area (palapa web-site photo). However we purchased a coffee pot and foam mattresses from Walmart (4 blocks) more comfortable. The breakfast at the "Beach" was wonderful, 9 hot dishes to choose from, numerous breads, meats, chesses and fresh fruit. Staff will even make omletts at no extra charge. There are bed/mattresses on the beach and are fully staffed for beverages, snacks, and meals. The food tastes fantastic and presentation is beautiful. Nacho and Luis made our beach stay perfect. Nacho even nogiated a better price for parasailing! The "Blue" restuarant is wonderful and Hugo is the best! The food is more expensive but the taste is so magnificent it is worth it. We shared all of our meals (more than adequate). Leave room for dessert...the apple tart is excellent. The cleaning ladies do a great job the place is immaculate. We will certainly return!

Room Tip: All rooms facing back pool area are quieter. OxxO (like 7-11) is behind hotel for bottled water, sna...

“Excellent hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

This hotel is located in the centre and truly a boutique hotel. The staff were incredibly professional/helpful and the setting was exotic and peaceful given that it is right in the heart of the nightlife/ leisure area. Top quality products were used in the bathrooms and rooms comfortable. Pablo was particularly helpful, spoke fluent English and was a very fine receptionist..

Room Tip: Chose a room that is bright facing pool area.
