“nice hotel, perhaps overpriced”

The hotel is beautiful, the room was clean and spacious and nicely (although not spectacularly) decorated. I have no complaints about the hotel at all, except that the price seemed really high for what we got - I paid $82 on a last minute sale from $130 - maybe Playa is just expensive but based on Cancun centro prices I think a price of $70 non sale would have been more reasonable.

“great, clean, friendly, central location for short stay”

I stayed 1 night at Quinto Sol before i checked into my apartment nearby for the month. Jasmin was very helpful and nice about my spanglish. my room was on the 2nd floor (no elevator - difficult with heavy bags) and looked out onto Avenida Quinta, directly across from starbucks - in fact, starbucks patio dwellers could see me in my shower if i wasn't careful. The location is convenient but loud (not bad loud, just lots of people strolling and stores closing around 11pm), thus the suggestion that it is great for a short stay. Oh, and the wifi worked well in the hotel but not in my room (could have been my computer as i had a problem in Coffee Cafe as well -calle 34 and Ave quinta). room was clean and had the basic amenities. Did not eat at the attached restaurant, Cenaculo, but it was busy every night of my 1 month stay. Also, for the price ($78.00 deal), it was excellent!

“Average Hotel - Great Location & Service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2011

We stayed ay Quinto Sol for two nights in February. I was a little disappointed to be honest in certain areas, but the friendly and attentive staff made up for the downsides.
I read on their website that the Mini Suite included a "private balcony"... not the case. There is a common balcony area with two lounge style sofas. A jacuzzi on the roof (not sure if you can call it a jacuzzi since the water is not heated) which was very enjoyable during the day, but unusable at night after 9:00PM.
I expected (especially in a "suite") to have at least a complimentary bottle of water, and coffee maker... non-existent. Mini bar - empty. Stove - rusted. Small details which really did not bother me, there's a liquor store right on the corner .
However, the doors and window jams are paper thin, letting in EVERY noise from outside. I might have slept for 6 hours the whole two nights due to the noisy neighbors and 5th ave. That did bother me. You could literally here the kitchen opening at 6:00AM as if they were in the room. Plus the "suite" we stayed in had an adjoining door to the next room which was noisy as well. I've stayed at hotels in high traffic areas before... it's called soundproofing guys... look into it.

Now for the good: Very friendly staff in the reception area and on grounds. Always smiling... a gentleman came and turned the bubbles on the jacuzzi for us as soon as he saw us with swim suites and towels. Great internet speed. Beautiful place really. Nice garden. Decent continental breakfast down the street. Nice "rain style" showers. AC, TV, and very clean rooms. I might stay here again, but only if I planned to stay out on the town all night, and I wouldn't pay extra for a "suite" either.

Very nice hotel right on 5th Ave. Friendly and helpfull staff, nice rooms. Jacuzzi on the roof, breakfast in closeby restaurant La Vagabunda, free beach towel service. We had a great stay there, and would definitely recommend this hotel.

“Somewhat disappointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2010

My wife and I recently spent 5 night here and one of the reasons we picked it was for the kitchenette. However there was no microwave, the 2 burners were rusted and filthy, the coffee pot was dirty and broken and the freezer section of the refrigerator had so much frost on it I couldn't even get a bag of ice in it. (The hotel had no ice maker or ice cube trays to make our own ice, so had to buy ice at a convenience store down the street) Also, the floor was dirty so my wife ended up wearing old socks around all the time she was in the room so the bottom of her feet wouldnt get dirty!
