“beautiful grounds”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

There were four friends in a double garden room and even though the rooms are very basic, we were quite comfortable. The first night we were aware of the music coming from a club down the beach but it stopped around 9 PM and really wasn't an issue for us. We had a couple of things go wrong in our room and the service to get repairs were very quick. There is so much hudidity that it is difficult to keep things in good repair but they try very hard. The staff are absolutely top notch. Every waiter, grounds keeper and reception went out of their way to be helpful. Every contact spoke to us and had a smile. The beach was clean and well maintained. There could of been more beach chairs available but it wasn't a big issue just to trow down a towel and make do. We were just fascinated with all the tropical plants, many blooming and many Coati, birds and yes plenty of Iquana to surprise us on our walks. The shopping area 5th Ave, was a few minutes walk and reception would get a cab for us within a minute or two to go out to any resturant we wanted. We were glad not to have a TV in room and didn't miss a phone. The WiFi worked just fine for emailing home and there were computers in lobby that we could use for free. I would return for the personal assistance from the staff and the beautiful grounds.

Room Tip: rooms on jungle side are quieter.Families with small children might like near the pool which is more...

“Great start to our holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

We really enjoyed our stay at Las Palapas during the start of our tour through Mexico. Staff were very friendly and service was good. Breakfast was a good start to the day with fresh omelettes made every day, plenty of fruit and different offerings.
The room was average, very spacious large bed but a rather hard mattrass. Decoration was quite minimal and bathroom was a little dated although all in working order. A bottle of water was provided as well.
We enjoy lounging in the hammocks in front of our bungalow although I was eaten alive by musquitos in the evening, nothing seemed to deter them.
The grouns of the hotel are very well maintained and I enjoyed the surroundings. The hotel is build in 2 storey bungalows and in general a quiet area of Playa del Carmen.
Beach also very well maintained and tidy. There is a beach service of drinks and a daily cocktail special. Lunch is fresh, tasty and again a good selection of lunch options.
There is a pool as well and it looked clean and inviting but we decided to relax on the beach.
I would definately return and recommend others to stay at las Palapas. We enjoyed our stay very much!

Greetings to London,

Thanks for staying at Las Palapas and for sharing your experience with other guests. We are glad you got to enjoy the beach, breakfast and hammocks at your private veranda. Mosquitos can be terrible at certain times of the day.

Will share your comments with the rest of our team and we hope you come back soon to Las Palapas.

“Nice, relaxing spot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

love this place! Loved the thatched roof room....felt like real mexico! Breakfast was delicious, the grounds are beautiful, and you can walk to 5th ave no problem from this beach location. Excellent restaurants & shopping all around to choose from. Beach bar serves excellent drinks & doesn't skimp on the alcohol! Far enough off the beaten path to get away from the crazy party noise that is right in town.......We loved this place and will surely return if we ever stay in Playa again!

Room Tip: You can't go wrong.............

Not only is the beach the best in Playa, but the staff at Las Palapas is exceptional. Front desk staff is very knowledgable and recommended some great "authentic" mexican restaraunts. Breakfast is wonderful. Fresh fruits and juices every day, as well as omelits, bacon and sausages.

The grounds are immaculate. Staff keep the place beautiful. I hope to go back soon!

“A little bit of Eden”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

This is not a normal hotel, is it a selection of high class rooms in a little nature reserve next to a wonderful beach and a short stroll from the centre of Playa del Carmen, but it is infinitely more than this, as it has all the qualities of a first class hotel.
The restaurant serves a fabulous breakfast and evening meals, friendly staff who go out of there way to ensure you have everything you need, a pool, a gym, wellness centre, beach bar, in fact almost everything.
The rooms are spacious, comfortable with good air conditioning and ceiling fans, the bathrooms are well laid out with high quality showers, the beds are generous in size and extremely comfortable.
What makes it very, very special is its surroundings. It is constructed in a mature natural habitat surrounded by plants and trees which contain a mass of birds and wildlife, unlike anywhere you would find, short of staying in a jungle location. We saw many varieties of birds and other wildlife, even a badger in the jungle walk which leads off the front car park.
It won't suit people who like traditional hotels with TV's in the room and a mass of electrical gadgetry, carpets and lifts but if you want a little bit of Eden this is it! Long may it survive untouched!!!

Room Tip: "Rooms in the north corner are quieter, as there is day-time music noise from another hotel to...

Greetings to Great Britain,

Thanks for staying with us and for sharing your experience with other guests, we hope they find it useful. It's great to know you had a good time and enjoyed our valuable green areas and surroundings. This certainly makes it special, since fully 75% of the land is untouched and remains in its natural state, offering a great space for fauna to live.

We really hope you come back soon, Las Palapas is always your home.

Hasta Pronto!
