We stayed at Azul Fives from January 27-February 3rd and had a fantastic time. Upon reading many different reviews, we were quite worried about going there. I found it to be a very beautiful resort and very clean. It's very family oriented with lots to do for the kids. We were 2 couples travelling without kids, but I liked watching them play and have fun. My BF and I remarked how well behaved they were.
Some people have said that they had long lineups when going to the restaurants but we didn't find that to be the case. I think it depends what time you go. We usually went to Flavours or the less crowded Beach Grill for breakfast and never had to wait. Lunch for us was usually around 1:30 or 2:00 and dinner at 7:00.
All the food was very good, but my personal observation was they they had the tendancy to undercook the meat. I'm not someone who has to have it overdone, but pork and chicken do need to be cooked properly. A couple of times I had to send food back to be cooked more.
The service was unbelievably good. If I could rate it a "six", I would. A person travelling with us had food allergies and the staff were very kind and accomodating.
Yes, the beach is rocky, but a short walk to the left will bring you to a sandy area for swimming.
The week we were there it was quite windy at times to be on the beach so we hung out at the pool by our room. It was nice to have a grill there for lunch and we had some very good burgers and salsa.
The entertainment was fun and we all enjoyed it. It's too bad more people don't go up to the lounge...it's very beautiful, but on most nights quite empty.
We all enjoyed it very much and I would rate it as a 41/2 star if I had the choice.
