We spent Christmas 2010 in Unit D2 at Luna Encantada and can't say enough about the unit and the location. Being our 4th time in Playa del Carmen and knowing the area, this was the best. If you like the option of being on the beach or being down on the beach, Unit D2 is the place for you!!!
Luna is conveniently located at the foot of 6th Street off of 5th Avenue (the heart of Playa) affording you amazing selection of local restaurants and entertainment. And with the beach at your front door, you can walk north or south for miles enjoying all the sites an sounds or simply relaxing.
For great local Mexican food, try El Fogon on 30th Avenue close to Walmart. It's an easy 5 minute walk.

The location of Luna Encantada is fabulous. It is close to everything and the beach is perfection. The main negative was the non-stop smell of sewer gas in the 2nd bedroom and guest room. We stayed in Unit B2. Our daughter and her 3 year old son slept in the that bedroom and as our days continued I actually got very concerned about the long term effect of them breathing that air. Management did come to our room and did "a little something" in the way of repair. They said there was hair in the drain. I understand we were in Mexico. We have stayed there MANY times but we have never experienced such a stench in a condo that is high-end. We would return to Playa, but we would never stay in unit B2 again.

We stayed in A1 - perfect location right off the pool. We found everything to be perfect. My husband and I and our 2 friends were celebrating our wedding anniversaries and were ready to just chill out and that is what we did. The room was great, the staff was very nice and attentive. The beach was beautiful. All the restaurants are in walking distance. You definitely do not need a car. One of the true highlights was right next door on the beach - Massages for $18 US. We had massages almost every day we were there. The beds are a little hard, but other than that- it was a perfect trip. We cooked breakfasts in and ate out most other meals. Love it - would go back tomorrow!

We stayed in Unit C2 the first week of August. Three generations...all had a great time! The pool area was wonderful and kept my 9 and 7 year old kids busy for most of the day. The beach was absolutely FANTASTIC! Lots of beach area with fine white sand and crystal clear water. We were even able to go snorkeling from the shore. Noise was a bit of a problem on the weekends but didn't affect our ability to sleep. We did enjoy the music and watching the fire shows in the evening from our balcony. Plus, it's very convenient to the shopping and restaurants on Fifth Avenue.
