We just returned from our 3 week stay in Tulum. During this time we also went for visit to Merida and stayed, after I read all the reviews, for 2 nights at Piedra de Agua.
We upgraded to the presidential suite 305 and did not regret it in any way!! It was absolutely lovely and well worth it! Price wise a great value, compared to some hotel prices in Canada. The suite was awesome, even so I think no one would ever really use that huge bathtub, it does make for a a great look.
The bathroom was good and clean, as was everything else. The mats around the bed could need replacement though, but anything else was just fabulous!
I highly recommend a room out front and on the higher level so you can savour the view. We did not have had any problems with the street noise, after all you are in the city centre, so what do you expect? Take it all in, it's a beautiful noise of a wonderful and lively city! :) Enjoy yourselves and experience Merida from this awesome location! Everything is at your fingertip, walk, explore, take a carriage ride or a bus tour. We mostly walked and walking you can everywhere. Turn away from the fancy side and step into the real life, check out the local market that buzzes with life and friendly and helpful people that are surprised to see you there. Go ahead, dive in!
We especially like to thank the staff and the wonderful welcome and treatment we received. It does not happen too often to be confronted with raw vegans, thanks for helping us making our smoothies in the morning :)
And just thank you for everything else and for being there :) I loved so much standing on the balconies and watch the world happening out there.
I highly recommend this place for a wonderful experience and would choose it any time again!
Room Tip: Take a street front and higher room so you can take in all the great views!
