“No privacy in the shared bathrooms..”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

Great location, but so are many other hostels. We arrived very early in the morning by nightbus, and got a room straight away, with no extra expenses. Which was very nice. We had shared bathrooms and shower. The shower only had a curtain between, and was dirty. The toilets door was so short, you could actually look down on the person sitting there. Not very private, not very comfortable. Showers and toilets are in the same room, as if you are in a prison.

And why buy a jacuzzi if you are not gonna maintain it. It was dirty, no hot water, just two broken sunbeds and some chairs. The roof terasse has great potential but thats it. We only stayed here one night, and moved to Nomadas Youth Hostel, very nice!

“Good location but dirty room with awful bed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

Aside from being a couple of streets from the center (which in Merida we found to be quite boring),and the fact that it offered tours to Celastun and chichan itza (Pardon my spelling), hotel Trinidad proved to be a bad place to stay. The bed was metal springs covered with linen (the floor would have been better for me) which gave me a backache for the next week. In the shower and later in the room more than a dozen black worms decided to share our company and there were more than a few corners of the room with old filthy spiderwebs on them which have not seemed to be cleaned in the past year. While hosting also what seemed to be local Mexican construction workers, the hotel wasn't very tourist friendly either.

“Our second worst hotel experience ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2010

The word rustic was mentioned before we arrived at this hotel. Well, it could not be more wrong. This was an extremely worn down, dirty hotel with no facilities. Apart from one hotel in Zanzibar it was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in.
The hotel was reservations were sorted out by GAPadventures, who use this on their tours via Merida. The sign outside the hotel was promising (see photo). If we had not payed for the accomodation (3 nights) in advance we would have turned in the reception. This was just very poor quality and it took only seconds to spot this.

- the rooms had no windows - it was just like a bunker with no escape route (apart from the main door
- the room was dirty (but bed linnen clean)
- The AC was old and very noisy - had to turn this off during the night to be able to sleep. Then it became too hot and gave a suffocating ing feeling- probably slept less than 4-5 hours a night. Around the AC it was extremely dirty with hundreds of dead bugs (moscitos and their like)
The bathroom was again dirty. From the showerhead there came 2 or 3 thin waterbeams, (almost no water) so it took ages to get a shower and impossible to wash the hair. Still the drain did not manage to take away the (little) water that came out. Basically plugged.
The tap on the sink was slightly, but not much better. We got at least some water out of it. Cold that is. The warm water did not work. The mirror on the wall in the bathroom had seen better days. It was not possible to see the mirror image.
Tailes on the floor were cracked and/or missing.
We had to ask for missing towels, not only one time buth three.
The jacuzzi from the sighn outside was present, but not in a state which invited to a bath (see photo).
The sun terrace (the roof of the hotel) had a few working chairs. Again everything was worn down.
The common area were not appealing, nor was the "Continental breakfast". The choise were toast with strawberry jam or toast without strawberry jam.

“Charming and affortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 June 2010

We spend 3 night at this hotel, which is more of B & B and we loved it. Affortable 350 pesos per night for a room with priv. bathroom. Good location, very laid back and lots of great art work.

“Nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2010

Hotel Trinidad is a nice and clean hotel to stay. We've stayed several days and booked some trips at the hotel, which were of good value.
