“Shocking”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

As with all previous reviews nice and helpful. But however nice they should be ashamed at how dirty the rooms are. The walls are filthy and the bathroom needs to be steam cleaned. The beds had bugs we were itching. The fridge was all rusty. We cut our stay from 3 nights to 2 nights. In hindsight we should have checked out after the first night but being British it’s not easy confronting your host. It was not cheap either, the Hotel Paris nearby was 300 pesos a night. They had lost my booking, which makes us wonder if this is a hobby. WIFI good. Location is central. No soap or shampoo in bathroom. No cotton sheets. No under sheet. No matching towels. No car park. No breakfast. A real wasted opportunity.

“average but welcoming”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2011

We arrived here bone weary from travel, and were treated with such consideration, shown our room, no mention of payment, provided with more comfortable chairs for the patio, and left to rest. This was an interim stay of a week while we looked for an apt., and Ron & Manuel helped us in every way.

Yes, the rooms are a little on the dark side and could use some paint but the hospitality here more than made up for such shortcomings. Our room was clean and the bed was good. If you want five star go to something far more expensive and cross your fingers. These hosts are real people and treat you like friends.

The Fletchers, Vancouver Island

Room Tip: We only saw our room on the ground floor. Fridge, appliances all in working order.

“Great hosts”

We have stayed at Posada Santiago twice, each time for two weeks, and have enjoyed ourselves immensely. Manuel is a wonderful host and was very helpful in steering us towards good restaurants, cultural events and out-of-town attractions.

The hotel is small and intimate, not terribly splashy, but very clean and adequately equipped for us to prepare breakfast and light meals.

Highly recommended given the reasonable price.

“How was my stay, in a word: Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 March 2011

I recently stayed at the Posada for the third time in as many years. It is, and always has been, pleasant, clean, quiet, and friendly. The rooms have always been well maintained, and believe me, never any chipped paint or dirt. The plants and trees in the courtyard are a veritable tropical arboretum. There are always some flowers blooming and last year there were bananas on a tree, this year the papaya tree was loaded with fruit. The pool is small but pleasant and well kept up by Ron, the world's most interesting pool boy. The pool is so clean that one morning I looked at it from the balcony and thought there was no water in it. I would love to spend the whole winter there, but sadly, have to settle for only a few days a year.
