“Ten Days at Cascadas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

We loved it! We chose Cascadas online because it was small and seemed attractive, and
it was a wise and lucky choice. Our room - one of only four - was spacious, pretty, cool, super-clean, very private and quiet, with a lovely pool right at our door. The breakfasts
were truly sumptuous and delicious, not at all what one usually expects at a B and B.
The real gem was the owner and our new best friend, Ellyne Bardo, who was an amazing
hostess and concierge, a great guide and help to us throughout our stay. She arranged tours, transportation, restaurant and concert reservations, and was a constant source of support and insider advice. We recommend Cascadas wholeheartedly.

“gem of a place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

We stayed at Cascadas for 4 nights in mid january during a 3 week driving tour of Yucatan. In all we stayed in 7 B&Bs, this was by far the best in every way, beautifully designed and spotless. The rooms are light and full of colour - the bed was enormous and we appreciated the many extras in the room - this was the only place we stayed where we had a safe for example. The shower is a delight - totally relaxing. This is a perfect chilled spot from which to explore Merida - away from the madding crowd, yet only a short walk to the centre of town. The warmth and hospitality of the hosts Ellyne and Chucho make this a very special place to stay. They seem never to tire of giving information about restaurants, visit possibilites etc. and the superb, generous breakfasts around a communal table was a wonderful start to each day. We left feeling that we'd stayed with friends. We loved Merida and Cascadas - we will be back!

“Beautiful, comfortable and hospitable in every way!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

We stayed at this B&B for four nights in January 2012. I cannot recommend it enough. The hostess is extremely helpful. We would never have seen as much as we did without her advice. She personally arranged the tours we were interested in. The breakfasts were fabulous, way above and beyond the typical b&b fare. Our room was very private and yet opened directly onto the very welcoming pool and garden sitting area. There is a lovely, welcoming living room and free wifi throughout. I plan to return to Merida as it is an exceptionally lovely city. When I do, Cascadas is where I will stay.

Room Tip: We had a room at the back of the property, but I think all of them are equally nice.

“Special B & B in a wonderful city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

My wife and I stayed at Cascadas de Merida for a week in Jan. as a celebration of our fortieth wedding anniversary. We have always wanted to visit Merida and staying at Ellyne and Chucho's made our visit even better than we anticipated. There are four casitas around a small garden courtyard and a pool. The pool was very refreshing after our daily walks exploring the city. It's a very quiet spot, within easy walking distance from the main plaza, main market and many fine restaurants and shops. Chucho was born in Merida and Ellyne has lived there for many years and both are extremely knowledgeable about the city and the surrounding area. They were very helpful to us as we planned our week of adventures, taking day trips to surrounding communties and visiting the many wonderful museums in the city. Ellyne has many contacts in the city and helped to arranged several tours for us. Everyday Ellyne and her wonderful staff serve an amazing breakfast. Fresh squeezed orange juice, huge fruit plates, great mango yogurt, fresh pastries and everyday a different Mexican "special" breakfast served with fresh salsa, pico de gallo and warm corn tortillas. The coffee is also great. I can't imagine returning to Merida and not staying at Cascadas. Truly a superb Bed and Breakfast in a wonderful city!

Room Tip: make sure to ask for the size bed you want as some are twins, some are kings, etc.

“Great pool, nice hosts”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

Nice B&B, very nice hosts. If you like swimming, this place has a much bigger pool than most houses in Merida, and you can swim laps in it. It's not Olympic size or anything, but it's very nice.
