Every review says this, but David's hospitality is indeed unparalleled. He is welcoming, generous, and genuinely interested in enriching his guests' experience in Merida -- always ready with recommendations and help. The delicious breakfasts are amazing (almost too much!). The place is like a museum and a gallery, with a fascinating, eclectic art collection, including David's own works, which reveal considerable talent. The two back guest rooms are separated from the main colonial house by an elegant garden, the centerpiece of which is a delightful tiled pool presided over by Chac Mool. Thus, far from the street, the rooms are quiet and private. The only noise is the gentle rustle of leaves in the breeze (and the occasional protective greeting from David's friendly dogs). There are plenty of places to sit outside to read, including the upper terraces of the main house, which provide great views of this part of the city. The location is perfect, just blocks from the central plaza. And when we got a car for touring in the peninsula, we were able to park on the street. Los Arcos was the perfect place to relax after days of touring. Beds are comfortable and both necessities and amenities are plentiful. This place is a discovery.
