“Home from home”

Great little B&B- clean, relaxing, homely, lovely cat called doggy. Ana is lovely, very kind and interesting to talk to. Its a bit of walk into town, and by that, I mean 15 mins.

Although we said it was sparkling clean, I was woken up in the middle of the night by things crawling on me. Not sure if it was bedbugs- or mosquitoes or whatever. Could have been the luck of the draw. My friend was unaffected but I had the 3 telltale bite marks come morning.

The breakfast is nothing to write home about: bread and jam and the coffee was quite weak. But we weren't there for the breakfasts, nor hanging around. It's a perfect base from which to explore Merida.

The lovely Ana made this B&B feel like she had opened her home to guests and we felt extremely welcome.

We recommend the Blue Marlin for a late lunch- AWESOME fresh seafood.

“What a wonderful little B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

We stayed here for two nights. I have severe asthma so smells and dust affect me. However, although Merida is humid-there was no smell of mold in the room and the room was spotless-but didn't smell like cleaner. There's a hammock in the room which my best friend adored. The beds were super comfortable, the breakfast awesome and Ana was great. She seemed like she cared about what we were up to and gave us some great suggestions. The location is close to downtown, but not close enough that the b&b is noisy.

“Excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

Recently spent a week at Casa Ana, my second stay at this lovely B&B. The rooms are spacious and light, the garden with its small pool perfect for relaxing, reading, chatting. Ana and Mariana are welcoming and helpful, and provide delicious breakfasts with excellent coffee, fresh fruits, breads, homemade jams, occasionally eggs. I find the location excellent as while it is only a short walk from the busy central park area, the rooms are quiet and the lovely garden provides a most pleasant escape from the city noise. I very much look forward to my next visit!

“Wonderful Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2011

This is not a well-known place. The taxi driver had never heard of it. But it is worth searching for it. From the outside it looks much like many other buildings in Merida, but stepping through the door brings you to another world. The reception area is actually the owner's living room. There is a bookcase of books in English and Spanish. After registering, you pass through the kitchen area where breakfast is served and into a small but beautful tropical garden. It even has a little pool. Not big enough for a swim, but nice for a refreshing dip on a hot day. At the rear of the property are the guest rooms (only four). They are really nice rooms. The place seems more like a visit to a friend's house than a hotel. Things like straw hats on a hook and other decorations make the place seem like a home. The rooms are really clean and have everything you need including wifi. No TV but who needs it. The one and only drawback is that it is located about seven blocks from the centre of town. It is a bit of a walk but worth it and the area is very safe. No parking except on the street. A very good breakfast of juice, coffee, bread and fruit and sometimes an egg is included. This is a really great place to stay in Merida.

“A great value and great stay.”

We recently stayed at Ana's and really enjoyed it. We wished we had found it earlier. The grounds were beautiful and the whole place felt very homey. I really enjoyed Ana's breakfasts and am trying to replicate her homemade jams. It was a great value. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Merida.
