The positive reviews you read here are all true. Helpful, clean, relaxing, central, recently renovated. I will recommend it to anyone going to Merida.

We stayed at Luz En Yucatan for a week and highly recommend it for all of the above. It is clean, comfortable, and convenient. The pool area is lovely. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. Tom provides a very relaxing atmosphere. This was our third time to Merida .. the first to Luz .. and we will definitely go back .. to both. Merida is a lovely city with lots to do esp. in the Centro Historico. The CH is walking distance from Luz but Luz is on a quiet street so your peace and quiet are not disrupted. The "gratis" tequila/rum/etc. cart in the main hallway is none too shabby either. :-)

This makes my fourth trip to Luz En Yucatan, and each time I come I love it more. I'm here for a week, writing a book (each trip has been a working-vacation, and I've written four books from the porch by the pool!). My first night I was met on the back porch by Tom, the owner, who visited with me for a while and caught me up on things. This place seriously feels like a home away from home, and I can't imagine a more hospitable inn-keeper. I'm only sad that I'll be leaving here in two days, and need to start planning my return as soon as I can!

Luz is in a perfect location, just a few blocks from the main plaza, but in a quiet neighborhood. Several GREAT restaurants are within a block or two from here. And the area is so safe my wife and I feel absolutely no qualms about wandering the streets in the late evenings. I highly recommend Merida to anyone who yearns for some old world charm, and I highly recommend Luz as THE place to stay while in Merida!

we really enjoyed Merida, and especially this quaint hotel. Checkin was actually fun, everyone there knows good English and has a hosts attitude. beds are comfy, A/C works great, complimentary beers in the fridge and liqueurs downstairs, we had problems with rental car arrangement and they invested a lot of time sorting it out for us.

car rental spot (excellent value as well) and breakfast spot (European style) within 20 steps of the front door, very convenient, both recommended.

we stayed in the suite first, it is worth the upgrade, a ton of room, full kitchen, large private deck, hammocks. it was already booked so we transferred into regular room, it was great too, but no kitchen or private deck.

ill stay here next time too.
