Visiting Hacienda Xcanatun should be a required stop for anyone entering Yucatan. A perfect blend of the colonial past with the modern comfort, extremely kind staff. The restaurant offers excellent appetizers and service, and even if some of the entrees were poorly conceived and no so good in taste, the whole experience is worth a repeated visit. The spa is a very relaxing experience, the personnel extremely professional and courteous. Can't imagine a visit to Merida or Yucatan without visiting Xcanatun.

I'll start with the bad - the ONLY negative about this hotel is that it is away from anywhere else, so there's nowhere you'd want to wander to nearby. However, why would you need to wander? The grounds are extraordinarily beautiful, brimming with greenery and birdlife. The rooms are enormous, furnished to the highest standard, and there are cool verandas on which you can relax, read, or stroll to the pool. And the food in the restaurant is outstanding - really, really excellent. Staff are very attentive and friendly. The hotel requires you to be "calm and elegant" - so worth keeping that in mind; pack a smart/casual dining outfit, you'd look really out of place in a baseball cap, t-shirt or baggy shorts! Possibly the best all-round hotel we have ever stayed at.

i stayed at the Hacienda Xcanatun for a week with my husband, daughter (17), son and his fiance. It was a lovely vacation. The rooms are beautiful. Pools are excellent lounging areas. The grounds are gorgeous. It's quiet, except for the birds! The staff is incredibly good. Special requests were made for a rental car, which was accommodated quickly. When we left at 4 a.m. to catch a plane, they had rolls and hot coffee ready for us while we were checking out. Everyone is so nice and so thoughtful. The restaurant is supposed to be the best in Merida, and we had one wonderful meal after another. The location is close to many of the ruins and cenotes, about 15 minutes from Merida. It is such a nice base for exploring. You feel so pampered!

Living in Merida I go to the Hacienda twice a year for a relaxing treat. Everything has ALWAYS been excellent. This time I ran into a problem which had me upset and I complained to the front desk. Within less than five minutes the owner Christina was at my suite with a solution which was more than expected. Christina solved the problem that fast. It was my birthday and she even arranged to have a private table set on my terrace with full staff for dinner.
Once again I give the Hacienda my highest rating from all the staff to management to the owner Christina. Well worth the stay. My thanks to all for a wonderful stay.
