this is an awfull hotel in a city that offers very little for an american tourist. our tour co put us here. the rooms are dark and ugly. the sheets had stains

We went in low season, when it was hot and wet (100% humidity).

Pluses:
- Very friendly staff who were always ready to point us in the right direction. We wouldn't have found some of the best local places to shop or eat without them.
- Free high speed wireless internet.
- 2 (small) pools. One very private and the other very public. We only used the private one. Very nice to cool off in with the hot weather.
- Adjustable, strong a/c.
- Spotless.
- Great value for money.
- Central location in Mérida.
- Reliable, secure off-street parking nearby.

Minuses:
- Mosquitoes (even in the air conditioned lobby). I had more than 10 bites on one leg in a day. But my husband had none, so I guess it depends on you!
- Tiny, tiny bathrooms (that work pretty well nonetheless)
- They turn off your a/c and take the sheets off the bed at check out time, even if you've arranged to check out later. Make sure you remind them not to clean your room until you've gone.
- Balcony rooms face the street and can be very noisy. The hotel is on one of the major streets in Mérida.

I went with a school group to this hotel.. We hid our money in our clothes in our suitcases, in hidden pockets, etc. and the maids/house keeping staff apparently went through all of our suitcases and made off with about $380 USD. Plus, water pressure in showers was bad due to uncleaned shower heads and water was only slightly warm. Only thing nice about this hotel was front desk help.

One you get to know David, Samizar and the staff. they really treat you well.
