We just returned from our annual trip to Mexico and chose to return to Villa La Bella. We cannot say enough about the hospitality shown to us by Ashley and Curtis, we felt as if we were staying in their home as their Bed and Breakfast is so quaint.
The grounds are immaculately kept as are the rooms, thank you ladies. We stayed in Cabana One with the big round window so we had a perfect view of the ocean and were just steps away from the pool.
The staff is more than willing and eager to meet your every need. Luis, Vicento, Ernesto and Francisco are fabulous bartenders although that's not the only duty they perform. You've got to try one of Francisco's Bloody Marys, they are the best not to mention the pina coladas with freshly shaved coconut served in a coconut shell, WOW! It was surprising and pleasant to see the same faces we saw two years ago. The breakfast Curtis prepares is so delicious beginning with pastries, yogurt and fruit then the main dish, the presentation is as you would see in a five star restaurant.
Any request that we had from renting golf carts, which dive shop to choose, the best shopping, the restaurants and bars that we just couldn't miss, was answered in the book which Ashley had prepared for each cabana. New from the last time we visited was Happy Hour on Friday night. We can boast that we were there when "Jimmy The Pick" broke a World's Record! You just had to be there.....
Villa La Bella is a small, quiet and adults only Bed and Breakfast which makes getting to know the other visitors delightful.
Ashley and Curtis are the perfect hosts, ask to see Ashley's private collection of sea glass, my husband said that Ashley has created a monster as I wanted to hunt for sea glass as soon as we arrived. One guest was even ready to kick my a.. as I got him hooked on searching for the gems of the ocean.
It's no wonder that Villa La Bella is ranked number two of twenty-nine Bed and Breakfast in Isla Mujueres and number nine out of twenty-five in Mexico (it should be number one on both polls) and it's American owned which makes it that much better.
It was bittersweet when the taxi arrived to take us to the ferry, we can still see Ashley and Curtis waving goodbye, but the trip was wonderful. When planning a trip to Isla Mujeres you must check out Villa La Bella and who knows we might just be guests at the same time.
Thanks for making our stay more than pleasant, we miss you already Ashley and Curtis. Hopefully we will be seeing you and your beautiful villa again soon.
