“Great location, amazingly helpful staff, highly recommended!”

We stayed in January 2011 and our room was upgraded to a room with sea view, just wonderful. The location is very peaceful, a 10 minutes stroll from the town or a 3£ taxi ride. The manager, Steve was extremely helpful and very kind, he took us to the local supermarkt on our first night and advised on what was good.
The room was very spacious and the bathroom huge with the shower overlooking the sea. All rooms have wifi connection and internet telephone. Also, our room had a small kitchenette tucked away behind a door, very handy . We initially decided to stay at Villa Aldora because of the diving centre(Aldora divers),arguably the bestin Cozumel, but would definately come back to stay regardless of the diving. Would definately recommend!

“Aldora - a great experience!”

We stayed at the Villa Aldora in December, after having to reschedule our original November dates due to illness. The managers, Kay and Greg, were very accommodating with our schedule change, and provided great tips during our stay. Upon our arrival, Greg took us into town to check in at the Aldora dive shop, along with stops at the ATM and Mega market for groceries. We loved the location - it felt private and unique, yet was just a short 1 mile walk into the heart of town. They also have bikes, which we hopped on one day for a tour of the area. We took a cab a few times, and didn't have much trouble waving one down.

The room was well-equipped, very clean, and kept neat and tidy by the housekeeping staff. They provided 5-gallon dispenser bottles of filtered water (like the Sparkletts bottles), which we really appreciated. We enjoyed the personal interaction with the other folks staying there and looked forward to the daily sunset get-together.

Kay and Greg pointed us to some really excellent places to eat - several were off the beaten path but had exactly what we were after - local places with very fresh, well-prepared food, and reasonable prices.

Oh, and the diving with Aldora Divers was great, too!

We'll definitely be back.

“A fun place to stay and dive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 February 2010

We recently spent 9 nights at Villa Aldora and rented the North Suite which we shared with another couple with whom we frequently travel and dive. The suite was spacious and comfortable with nice bedrooms and bathrooms, kitchen, dining and living room and two decks overlooking the ocean. The managers, Kay and Greg were gracious and helpful, taking us to the grocery store and dive shop the first day, assisting us with taxis and a rental car for the one day that we toured around the island, and giving us several good recommendations for restaurants, exchanging money, local events, etc. One member of our group became quite ill and they assisted in calling a doctor to the villa where he was prescribed medication that was delivered directly to him.

We came to dive and dove 6 days with Aldora Divers where we were picked up daily at the villa pier which was very convenient. The DM was very safety conscious, helpful, and friendly, and we enjoyed the diversity of the drift dives and sea life. We particularly enjoyed diving with a maximum of 6 divers and spending time at small beach restaurants during our surface intervals.

In addition to the dives, we did the cenote dive tour to the mainland with Mateo which turned out to be better than we all expected. Mateo was extremely interesting and knowledgeable, and so much fun to talk to about the area and all of the cenotes, and answered all of our questions. The cenote was like diving in a cavern filled with water—unlike anything any of us have experienced, and we would highly recommend it to those who may share a similar interest.

We all enjoyed the quiet, informal, laid-back feeling of the villa, as well as its’ location. We also enjoyed walking into town in the evenings for dinner and back to the villa along the beach, and only took a taxi when going to the grocery store for supplies.

This was our first time to Cozumel and we would recommend Villa Aldora and Aldora Divers to others who are looking for a causal, relaxed atmosphere with an excellent dive operation.

“'think twice about staying here”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2009

I was under the impression that this was a luxury accomodation based on the category that others put it in. Far from it!! Although 2 of the suites could be considered luxurious (the Aldora Suite and I think the other is called the North Suite, both on street level), I wasn't able to book either of these. I tried 2 different rooms there--neither was acceptable due to size, noise, bed discomfort, or other reasons.

And--taxis definitely DO NOT frequent the area in the evening!! Almost always had to walk into town even when i wanted a ride.Unless you can plan well in advance and call a cab, plan on walking from Aldora, about 1 mile to town. The hotel staff was not entirely honest when i asked them specifically about this before I booked there. I was not impressed with the caretakers.
NO restaurants, bars, cafes, or markets anywhere nearby. If you want to pay for a car while there it would make staying at Aldora a little better.
Internet was sketchy at best. They did have phone system for free calls to USA which was nice.Easy snorkeling off their dock. Was told had to dive with Aldora if staying there but other divers went with another outfit. Aldora divers pick up right in front of the villa.

“Villa Aldora, great place to stay in Cozumel”

Nice villa, clean, quiet and very friendly staff and manager. Villa Aldora located north of the main square, and each villa has balcony with ocean view, wireless & wired internet, TV, Air, Ceiling fan, refrigerator and internet telephone (Free call to US and Canada) and great view!
Suggestions: You may want to rent a car for transportation as taxi is hard to find in the area because the villa located away from the resort or hotel zone, also since there is no restaurant on the premises you may to go to the grocery store and stock up.
