“Cozumel's Gem”

This was our 4th time back on the island, and 2nd time at the Park Royal. Last January we opted to try the Fiesta Americana (HORRIBLE experience), and I can't say how amazing it was to stay at the Park Royal. There is no way we will return to Cozumel and not stay there again, and again.

The overall atmosphere is wonderful. The resort grounds are kept in meticulous condition. There is always staff cleaning something...even down to the mini pathway torches. Our room was always immaculate, bed linens tucked in so neat you could bounce a penny off of. We used our in room safe, just to avoid temptation, and never had a problem with theft of any kind.

The variety of food was great. Being that I've gotten sick at the other 2 resorts we've stayed at (I survived my last trip on boxes of cereal from the breakfast buffet), I was a little leery at first. However, by the second day I found that I had nothing to be worried about. The Veranda offers an abundance of food possibilities whether it be breakfast/lunch/dinner. We also visited the other restaurants, on-site, for dinner during our stay, with the Italiano being our favorite. Their food is EXCELLENT, and their service couldn't get any better! The snackbars out by the beach/pool are a novel idea as well. ...In case you're having too much fun in the sun to head over to the restaurants.

I really enjoyed this resort for the fact that they have activities going on during the day/evening. My husband is a diver, and while he's out, it's kind of nice to know that if I want to go learn how to dance, or make a friendship bracelet, it's available. The entertainment staff is all very encouraging that guests participate. They go above and beyond to make sure you're enjoying yourselves. We've made great friendships with every one of them. They are the most genuine people anyone could ever meet. The night-time entertainment can be quirky at times (different shows), but at least there's something to do.

I'm having island withdrawals. But it's good to know that I'll be back soon. And, I'll definitely be staying at the Park Royal!

“Loved Park Royal, would go back in a heartbeat!”

Park Royal Cozumel Suggestions:
The Park Royal resort is wonderful, super clean, and the workers are so hard working! Rooms all face ocean, be sure that is above the 4th floor. Will for go back!

1.Don’t get super wasted in the first 2 hours of being there, you will pass out-however you won’t be hungover the next day to enjoy the sun! (I did that) Drinks are STRONG!
2.Hot water is limited-cold showers often-to try to fix that problem turn cold water off, and crank hot water all the way on. (those things are under the sink)
3.Have to pay 2 dollars for the safe-a day(well worth it)
4.Swim up bar to the north, by the snack bar on the beach is the best. If you are coming from under the tunnel go to the Right. Burgers and hot dogs are the best there, at the bikini bar-which is at the main pool-the food seems a little old. Not as busy there. Nachos, condiments, and veggies are there too.
5.Snorkeling is great, if you have your own bring yours, if not just rent some for an hour-it is free.
6.The Italian restaurant is the best specialty restaurant and we ate there twice. The chicken parmesan is very yummy, so is the beef tenderloin and grouper. Really good amaretto moose too, and chocolate cake in the Mexican restaurant.
7.The buffet is ok, good for breakfast but other than that I would have a burger/hot dog for lunch, and then a dinner at the specialty restaurant.
8.I got towels at about 730, since I was up that time anyway don’t ask-I don’t sleep well on vacay. Not many chairs were taken, but if it is a nice day they are pretty much taken by 9/9:30.
9.At 12:30AM in the place were the buffet is at they have a snack area, it looks closed but if you go to the right of the restaurant there is usually soup, sandwiches, and something else not sure what else is available. But good choice after a night of drinking, and it is a secret not many peeps know about it.
10.The restaurant LaHach is about a 10 minute walk from the resort-really good food, bands on wed, thurs, fri, and sat night I think. Free WiFi.( No free wifi at resort). It will be on your left if you were going into town, and it is right on the ocean. http://lahachcozumel.com/
11.We also rented a jeep from ernestos which is right across from the resort 70$ usd for 24 hours, and we went around the island. Well half of it, you can easily do the whole island, but we didn’t want to. There is a cool beach called playa palancar beach-which is free to go to, and they have a restaurant, snorkeling, and drinks. Very pretty!
12.We also went to another beach restaurant we call it “bob Marley” beach, but we just ate there and laid in hammocks. There is also a place to the right of that which you have to pay to go, but we did not go. A lot of other places to stop at, but sometimes they cost money per person, so it was kinda hard to justify since we had our all inclusive.
13.Apparently on Sunday’s that is the time to go into town, I however I drank too much so I missed that! No cruise ships, and they have a big party in downtown I guess.
14.Crew ships come early in the AM, and stay till about 5:00ish,not such a big deal but do miss some of the sunset.
15.The shows are kinda lame, but there isn’t much else to do at night, but drink or go into town. Taxi ride into town is about 7/8$. It is a bit of a walk into town-2.5 miles, we walked on the way back after walking to all the shops-we were tired!
16.Entertainment staff is fun-Guillermo, Gustatvo, and Rogue.
17.Enjoy and have a lot of fun, and bring me too!

Room Tip: Above 4th floor-ocean view, rooms are pretty chilly-not humid, and not get by an elevator!

“enjoyed every minute of the Park royal”

The Park Royal was a pleasant surprise. Very well planned on a small property, meant that we did not have to walk miles to the beach , room or bars. The beach is small, but very nice. great for snorkeling, with infinity pools and hot tubs in close proximity.
Food was good especially the Italian restaurant. You had to book. but you could go every night if you wanted. Service was good and very friendly. I got the impression that this hotel chain, was working very hard to leave a good impression on its guests, as at at this time there are many empty hotel rooms in Mexican resorts due to security concerns.
I would go back to this hotel anytime.

Room Tip: A good pair of walking shoes, as the pavement between the rooms and the beach can tend to be a littl...

“Great Resort for the Price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We stayed from the end of Jan till the 4th of Feb. Resort was super clean and we constantly observed staff cleaning and maintaining the facilities. Not once did i observe excess sand, garbage or anything else in the resort, even in the dining room after my young daughter splilled stuff off the table someone was there pronto taking care of it!
Time Share wolves mentioned in previous posts were not too bothersome, had 1 run in with them right off the bat and the word must have been spread because there was nothing after that episode. beware, they are skilled at countering most objections but be firm and very direct and it should take care of the issue if you so desire it to be.
Drinks were of good quality and quantity when ordered but i was a bit curious as to why there was no waiters making the rounds as I have witnessed in other resorts. The bar staff was excellent and were very friendly.
Food was good but the serving times were a bit off for my liking, especially dinner beginning at 6.30 p.m. The reservations only Italian restuarant had alot to be disired but the Mexican one was great.
The only con if it really could be called one is we used the resort to arrange a taxi trip around the island. For a 3.5 hr trip cost 120.00 but if i would have walked on the street and hailed one down (which there are many) the standard price is 70.00. The price I paid for going the easy way i guess.
No where around the resort or island was i concerned about safety and i met many mexicans themselves staying in cozumel at resorts vacationing.
Rooms were good except the outside noise is easily heard but other than that no issues at all.
1st time in Mexico and would like to head back to cozumel again next year.

Room Tip: try and reserve a room higher to avoid noise from below

We stayed there from Jan 23-30th 2012. I was a little worried when I read the reviews about the food, but we really enjoyed it. We thought it was tastey and a lot of variety. The fish was always really good and the deserts were good too. I was surprized that the buffet was as good as the Mexican and Italian restaurant in our opinion. There is only one entry into the grounds at night and we always felt very safe. The grounds were constantly being cleaned and trimmed up. The gardens were very lush with lots of birds and a few iguanas. The pools were wonderful and the beach was great for snorkeling! You can use the equipment for an hour a day free. We say sting rays, sea snakes, parrot, angel, baracuda and lots of other fish right there. We went to Chankanab Natioal Park one day and it was $10.00 to get there one way. It was fabulous! The water is so clear and we could take our time and do whatever we wanted all day. There are lots of umbrellas for shade and it is very clean. We bought a bucket of beer , salsa, and chips and one mixed drink for $22.00. We thought that was quite a value. The lagoon has lots of fish that you could see just looking down into it, and Iguanas sunning themselves on the edge too! The trip to town is 3 miles if you walk or $7.00 cab ride each way. Lots of great stuff to shop for. There is a shop there that sells had painted feathers that are so unique and really well done. The stay at the Park Royal was really worth the money, and we were not bothered by timeshare people. It was available, but no one pestered us so don't worry about that. We took a Jeep tour one day that involved driving our own jeep to go snorkeling, a tour of the ruins, tequilla factory, lunch overlooking the beach, alligator refuge, and the lighthouse at the south end of the island. Really fun and lets you get to see the whole island. I would recommend this hotel unless you are really reayy picky. Oh, the hot tubs are not hot just bubbly, and there was not hot water late at night either. Otherwise everything was great! Sue in MN

Room Tip: We wanted to be above the 4th floor to see the ocean, but we got the 2nd. The view from the balcony...
