“Nothing Compared to Resorts In Cancun”

As soon as we got there we had problems.. " your room will be ready at 3pm "....." your room will be ready at 4 pm".... " your romm will be ready soon" Then I was told even though I ask for a king size bed didnt mean I was going to get one , just ment I asked for it. ...The very nice pictures of the pools they show you online are only avalible if you upgrade . The food was BAD !! . Room towles needed to be replaced about a year ago. As in Cancun no mater where you stayed you could get on the bus for almost nothing ,25 or 50 CENTS , to go anywhere . To go to town , About 4 miles away was 15.00 USD. We did meet some great peolpe there and that made it easier. but we will NEVER go back Oh yea, 1 kind of beer and thats it

Room Tip: Dont get a room

“Best Value for the Price”

Visited between February 6th and 10th, from Annapolis, MD

Like many reviewers have stated earlier, if you have done your research and no what to expect you'll have a great time. If you think you're booking the Ritz or feel entitled to certain things simply because you're from the U.S., Canada or Europe then you'll be in for a rude awakening. Go with the flow and you'll have a great time.

Pay the extra couple of dollars and upgrade to the Exclusive side. The rooms a newer and a little nicer plus you have access to another pool and bar the other side does not. Our room had a quirk in that the shower head had the pressure of a sandblaster and flipped from hot to cold every few seconds. We could have run screaming to the front desk and cried, like some reviewers would have done, but we dealt with it. No big deal.

To the reviewers who complained about the beach being too rocky I just have to say that Cozumel is sitting on top of the 2nd best coral reef in the world behind the Great Barrier Reef. Guess what? There are going to be rocks. Anywhere on the west coast of Cozumel, where the resorts are, there will be rocks because there are reefs just off shore. If you would have brought water shoes and a dive mask and put your face in the water you would have been amazed at the number of colorful fish just out of arms reach. We had dive boats and snorkeling excursions anchoring no further than 50 yards off the beach. What does that tell you? There was a pelican diving 5' off of the beach because of the schools of smaller fish that surround you as you wade in. It kills me to hear the complaints about what a lot of people go to Cozumel for in the first place, to dive.

The staff was great. Couldn't say enough about them. I brought a bunch of singles and five dollar bills for tips based on an earlier review I read. They appreciate it and will remember you. It is true that there were few waiters roaming the beach or pool area although there were some. This meant that you actually had to get off of your a$$ and walk to the bar to get something. My God people, are you that lazy? The drinks are not watered down. You watch them make them right in front of you and you can get top shelf. The only beer on tap was Dos Equis (Mexican Dos Equis, not the stuff we get in the U.S.) which my wife didn't care for but she was just as happy with Margarita's, shots of tequila or whatever the specialty drink of the bartender may have been.

Food was plentiful and we always found something we liked. There was food available somewhere in the resort most times. If you stay on the Exclusive side you can order room service which is a plus. The Mosaique (Asian Fusion) and Roberto's (Italian) were good. You need to make reservations ahead of time. We tried things we don't usually eat and liked some and didn't like others.

On our last day my wife visited the spa and said the staff and service were terrific.

Bugs, I saw some ants. Nothing in our room not to say that something couldn't have gotten in. It is a tropical island, I'm sure there are a bunch of bugs there. We did an all-inclusive in Jamaica where they had to keep nets over the buffet to keep the flies off. You spent your meal waving your hands to keep them off of your food. Nothing like that at Sabor's buffets. As a matter of fact, no mosquitoes at night anywhere. Maybe it was the time of year were there but bugs were not an issue.

The mattresses were hard compared to what we have at home but we still slept like babies. I actually had less aches and pains in the morning. I'm thinking I need one of these mattresses back home.

Bottom line, for what you are paying to stay at an all-inclusive with no kids and a reef off the sandy beach, you can't beat it. If you expect the resort to wait on you like you're some sort of diva than don't bother coming to Cozumel.

“7 days- not enough!”

we just returned from our funjet trip to Sabor. we chose to upgrade to the exclusive section- best $100 we ever spent! bigger rooms, mini bars, room service, bigger pool area, water slides, extra bars and restaurant, less people, with access to the rest of the resort as well. amazing staff (we love you peewee, miguel, tomas and christian! we will miss you!) wonderful food, drinks were plentiful! the few small issues were addressed promptly (bad ac in first room, poolside speaker didnt work all the time)...
in the basic area of the resort, the buffett was great for what it is- designed to make everyone happy. some of it didnt have as much flavor as it could, but if id had as much as i would like, someone else would complain. the fresh fruit and veggies were plentiful- no one ever left hungry! the snack bar was great for quick "fast food" type meals. great when you've had a few drinks and want a snack before bed!
i am saving my pennies so i can go back soon but am EXTREMELY sad this will not be adults only after this summer- my hope is the exclusive section will remain child free- listening to other peoples kids is not my idea of a vacation.

Room Tip: upgrade to the exclusive section for best rooms!

Dear valued guest,
thank you very much for all your kind comments, we appreciate every comment posted.

We have had very nice comments about our Sabor Exclusive section, and I like your photos made from your room. I think the special design of this section along with the additional facilities we have there worth the money.

Do not be worry about upcoming changes this summer, we will remain adults only in our Exclusive Section, is only the main section of the hotel which will become family oriented.

Thank you again for all your feedback

“Overall, it was wonderful!”

For the money this resort was a wonderful value and we will definately return. The food, staff and service was all very good. That being said, here is a few tips to make things better.
1. Upgrade to the better room section. Better bars, liquor, food and service. A no-brainer.
2. First thing into your room, do a thorough walk around. Report any slow sinks, missing amenities, etc. Check the A/C, TV, clock radio, etc. to make sure they all work. Request extra towels, blankets, coffee packets, whatever. Get this out of the way. It is Mexico- not your home state. Enjoy the fact.
3.Tip often and early. If you can afford this resort, a few extra bucks in tips will get you better service and give you the warm fuzzies. This is a poor island full of rich personalities. Pay for the experience.
4. Don't pay for the booking shuttle services. Van service is $11 a head from the airport and cab was $24 (4 folks) bucks back. Use caution with the rental car pushers in the airport. Listen to their speel as its good island info then respectfully decline and get on a van.
5.Schedule any excursions online. We did the Pirate Booze Cruise and had a hoot. A little off-color, great dinner, way too much tequila and way too much fun. Also did some fishing and dolphin smooching- all without a hitch. Just be sure to bring the supporting paperwork with you.
6. Bring your own beach towels. We had our issued resort towels taken from the pool and I had to put up a hissy fit to only get billed $25. Sucked but I knew better than forget my own.
7. Enjoy Mexico. Get to know Tomas at the pool bar, Maria who cleans your room and Angel who delivers the best morning screwdrivers. Don't compare here to where you came from. Its different- its Mexico and wonderful.

Room Tip: Upgrade, upgrade and upgrade. Best $200 bucks you'll ever spend. Happy people at the Exclusive s...

Dear valued guest,
on behalf of our staff I appreciate the time you spent to write your review.

Many other customers will keep in mind your suggestions, they are really proactive.

In my opinion our Exclusive Section worth the money spent, but I think the main hotel section have great facilities as well.

I appreciate your comments about Mexico, people have to keep in mind that we are a resort in a paradisiatic Island in the Mexican Caribbean, all they have to do is to unwind, relax and meet their new friends in Mexico

Thank you, and feel free to contact us if you need anything for your next visit to Sabor Cozumel
