I booked this trip through All Inclusive Vacations. The hotel resort is located ideally for those looking to scuba dive. Very short boat rides to the dive sites. Dressel Divers is the operator and does a very good job. The cost of diving was separate from the air and
hotel package. The hotel was great as well as the service. For an all inclusive, the food
was very good. The house wines, both red and white, weren't up to my standards, but
for an additional cost you could order better wines off their wine list. All in all, a good
seven day vacation. The wife and I look forward to returning the first of the year.

Resort in general:
The grounds as we had read are beautiful, and very well maintained. It was fun to see the flamingoes, parrots, iguanas, and peacocks (or perhaps peahens as we never saw a real display) on the grounds. We also got lost almost every day on the meandering paths but the resort is not large so it was just chalked up to “exercise”. Location is GREAT if you're a diver, but not particularly convenient to town (about 20 mins/$20 cab).
Rooms:
Our room was “Run of the House” according to AA Vacations. It was small as we had read but not tiny. Be aware that there is very little space to store anything – really just some shelves and a clothes bar built around the “mini-bar” (tiny refrigerator) . Decent amount of hang-up space with a generous number of hangars. No place whatsoever to put your luggage, so it’s going to be along the wall for the duration. No drawers at all. We’re not beer drinkers and we don’t do sugar soft drinks so we asked for water every day and diet soft drinks. We don’t even know when they did it but a couple of hours later it was done. Water was replenished every day. Yes, the beds were hard and while we like a firm bed we did ask for a bed pad after the first night. It was delivered immediately and we enjoyed the difference. The pad is fairly firm foam.
Staff:
The staff was very friendly and hard working. We were involved in an auto accident while on Cozumel and the front desk was very solicitous, arranging for a wheel chair for a couple of days, a golf cart ride back to our room after the accident, and they inquired after us later on in the week. We feel we could have had more attention if we had needed it.
Food:
We thought the food in the buffet was quite good and very plentiful. There was definitely enough variety to please everyone. We tended to head for the things that said “From Mexico” – we love Mexican food and wanted to sample what they had. We enjoyed those items almost universally. We didn’t try the American restaurant or the steak house at all but ate at the Mexican restaurant twice and thought it was WONDERFUL. Great food, great service.
Maintenance:
We had a drip in our bathroom from the ceiling twice and they responded immediately. While a lot of effort was put into it, it may be something that is just going to happen with A/C and a tropical climate. We had issues with our toilet three times and they responded immediately.
Dive operation:
Our original intent was to see Cozumel island and have a convenient base of operations for diving. We had corresponded with Dressel Divers beforehand and found them to be very professional and responsive. Diving was maybe a little pricey, but our divemasters were universally excellent. They had to cater to multiple experience levels in multiple languages and did it very well. The very short boat rides to great reefs was great.
Experience overall:
We’re actually timeshare owners and have never done an all-inclusive resort, but the Iberostar worked out better financially than an international timeshare exchange. We probably don’t think of the Iberostar as “over the top” luxury resort, but we would return any time.

This is my 9th trip to Mexico and I usually like to stay at 4 star all-inclusives so we decided to try Iberostar. This hotel was NOT even a 3 star. The food was awful, drinks were watery and the rooms were old and dingy. You also are only guaranteed reservation at the restaurants 1 out of 3 nights so that means you will be eating the buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner the other days. The buffet is pretty small. The jacuzzi at the spa is about 15 years old, doesn't get hot and is pretty dirty. The prices are high for what you get. We usually have fabulous services everywhere in Mexico but this resort about half the people were not as friendly and helpful.

The beach is beautiful and the pool was pretty nice. Not a lot of wait staff around the pool though. I think if you are just going there to party it up and get a good price then it is probably worth it. But if you are looking for a 4 star resort with good food this is not for you. Oh and bring bug spray for October - the bugs were bad!

I heard the Iberostar Grand resorts are much nicer though I haven't been to a Grand. I recommend Palace resorts for sure!

I know this review is pretty late, but I wanted to add it! I went to Iberostar Cozumel with my family in May 2008 for my cousin's wedding!

Location: Great! Close to the airport! About 15-20 minutes. Not too bad. Very clean! When we went to town to go shopping it felt safe and it was clean. Bartering for lower prices was decent, sellers usually went down in price.

**Check out La Mission in Cozumel after shopping. They have great fresh seafood and the price isn't going to burn a hole in your pocket.**

Beach: I was a little disappointed with the beach. It is a little rocky towards the shore. You need to walk a little ways from the dock before getting into the water from a ladder. Other then that, no other problems with the beach. There are a lot of chairs and there's a bar to get drinks right on the beach.

**Walk down to Alberto's it's on the beach by the hotel, not too far of a walk. They have fantastic fish tacos!!! And coconut drinks right out of the shell!!!! Kind of pricey, but not too bad.**

Pool: Pretty big pool with a pool bar! A plus in my book! They don't make the drinks too strong, but if you want them strong all you do is ask! Lots of pool activities, don't be afraid to join in they are a lot of fun!

Restaurant: For the buffet, I don't think we had reservations, but for the other restaurants, I believe we had to. I would recommend the buffet food compared to all the rest. I really enjoyed it and I think it tasted better. We mostly ate at the buffet by the pool and at the one by the lobby.

Staff: Very friendly and fun!!! They will even sit with you at breakfast and talk to you!!!

Rooms: I didn't spend too much time in there, but they were always cleaned and everything was where I left them. There was a safe lock box that we used for our money, passports, and jewelry. I know that my parents had a problem with their room and they were given another room.

Hotel: Beautiful! I liked how they had animals everywhere and that the hotel rooms were all bungalows! Very nice layout! Would definitely go to another Iberostar!!!

Awesome jungle resort!
We just got back from a 5 night stay. Can't say enough about Iberostar. Resort is beautiful and really feels like a small jungle. Lots of animals around and everything clean and neat. Room was nice, a little small, but still great. We were lucky - the resort wasn't very crowded so we got a great spot near the pool and the beach. Swim up bar in the pool is awesome, and the busiest in the resort.
The beach is also very nice. Gradually slopes away from the pool through palm trees.
It is a bit rocky, but for snorkeling just go to the end of the pier or walk north about 500 yards to some nice smooth sand. If you go - definitely snorkel!!
Food was awesome. They really have some great buffets at IB. Try the Mexican, some very good tequilas too.
Cozumel is a beautiful place. Check out Punta Sur. Cool eco-park with snorkeling and lots of nature. Kids are free!
Go to town on Sundays when no cruise ships come in. Not crowded and stuff is cheaper. Can't wait to get back down there!
