We found this online but initially stayed in a very cheap place. BIG mistake! Madame Eliane is a warm and most pleasant host, readily helpful in many ways, trilingual, and a scuba diver too! Tamarindo is a hotel with a difference; rooms and suites delightfully designed in the tranquil green back garden. Breakfast on the balcony is extra if you choose, and very pleasant. we didn't want to leave.

We've travelled the world stayed in many luxurious 5* hotels etc but this has to be one of my most favourite places.

We had two rooms in the upstairs appartment with a beautiful terrace. We spent a lot of time chilling out on this terrace, eating, chatting, listening to music and going through our days dive videos and photos. The rooms were spacious, cleaned on daily basis and fresh sheets and towels provided.

The staff were great. Elaine, our hostess, was very friendly, chatty and most helpful.

The accommodation is situated in a good central location close to supermarket and restaurants. Its about less than 10 mins walk from the ferry port.

If I return to Cozumel again then I will most definitely stay here.

We stayed at the Tamarindo the last 3 nights of our two week trip in Mexico. Eliane was the best hostess! The Tamarindo is located about a ten minute walk from downtown on a quiet street. Easy access to lots of great restaurants, even though there wasn’t a beach close it was easy to get a cab or go to the dock to take a tour. Eliane sat down with us when we first got there and recommended restaurants and tours in the area (do the Fury Catamaran tour, if you’re staying on the island you go later then the cruise ships and you have the whole boat and beach party to yourself!). She also makes an AMAZING breakfast. Every day we had coffee and a fresh fruit cup and then the rest changed daily. My favorite was her french toast with coconut shavings. This is definitely a great deal in Cozumel.

We stayed here almost as a transit stay, but it was just lovely and a wonderful surprise. Elaine enjoys what she does and it shows. We (family of 3) were very comfortable in our room and breakfast was good. It was a few blocks away from the beach though. Thank you Tripadvisor reviewers for identifying a gem.
