The B&B Caribo was my only negative experience during my Cozumel vacation last month. I canceled the remainder of my reservation (for 3 nights) after the 1st night.

Based on the reviews on Trip Advisor and Frommer’s, I anticipated a friendly and cozy atmosphere of a B&B. Since the B&B Caribo was my 3rd accommodation stop during the trip, it was evident that this establishment does not represent Cozumel's charm and hospitality.

The sparsely furnished rooms (2 double beds and a plastic patio rocking chair) seemed more like a college dormitory than a B&B. During this trip I was always impressed by the cleanliness of public restrooms and hotel rooms. Unfortunately, the bathroom did not meet this standard since the shower was long overdue for maintenance. The drain was severely clogged by a disgusting unidentifiable object which caused the entire bathroom floor to be immersed. (There was no barrier between the shower and bathroom floors.)

The American owner, Cindy doesn’t seem to understand the nature of her business. I was dismayed by the B&B operator's response when I made a simple request for tea at breakfast. She seemed perplexed, as if it was an unusual request. Although Cindy doubted she had any, ironically there were plenty of tea bags in the pantry. When she later brought me a mug of hot water she expressed concern since she had “never done this before.” Additionally, Cindy was unable to provide cream/milk for my friend's coffee.

Cindy was not accommodating or regretful when my friend and I explained our unsatisfactory experience.

In order to enjoy the hospitality Cozumel is well-known for – please avoid the B&B Caribo. I would recommend the Palma Dorada Inn (budget $) or the Vistal del Mar (moderate $), each with a lovely staff.

Both my wife and I and our friends have stayed at B&B Caribo. The owner was very friendly and provided tasty and healthy breakfasts. It's a place one can just relax and enjoy. Although not on the ocean it is not far to get most anywhere one might want to go. I've been there twice and most definitely go again.

We visited BB Caribo a couple of years ago, but still fondly recall our stay there and our experiences in Cozumel. BB Caribo is a modest accomodation that is clean and friendly. Daily breakfast was not fancy, but hit the spot and helped save $$ on eating out. The location is within easy walking distance to the main square and close to several local (non-chain) restaurants that we enjoyd very much. Very convenient and inexpensive to catch cabs from there. We also rented a vehicle a couple of days and had easy parking on the side street of the Caribo. A nice place to stay that allowed us to spend our money on our activities and meals out instead of accomodations. We plan on going back for another family vacation within the next year.
