“We Had a Great Time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 March 2009

My wife and I just got back from Cozumel Mexico, and stayed at Amigo's Bed & Breakfast for 3 nights. What a great time we had!! This is the third time we stayed there, and it is still a good value!!! (Could use a little paint, and updated appliances)

This B&B, is clean, the food is good, and the staff is friendly. Kathy provides home baked muffins!!

We were able to walk to the main plaza, waterfront, and grocery store. The wireless Internet (In the common area) was strong enough to operate our Magic Jack, so we telephone service to and from home. There is a chicken BBQ around the corner, that is Fantastic!! ($6.00 USD per whole chicken) The meal included chicken, noodle soup, spaghetti, Rice, and plenty of tortillas. We had enough left for lunch the next day.

We felt as though Amigo's Bed & Breakfast was our home away from home.

We would stay with them again!!

“A good value”

I stayed here 9 years ago and the only major difference was that the gardens have grown alot. This is not a fancy property. The rooms are big but the mattress and pillows left a lot to be desired. Maid service consisted mainly of making the bed. There was sand in the shower for three days before she cleaned it. I can only describe the breakfast as bad; weak coffee, dry muffins and terrible generic Mexican cereal. On the positive side; it was quiet and peaceful. There is a hammock in front of each room, the AC was great and a large pool. The location is extremely convenient to the downtown restaurants. If you are on a budget this is a good choice. If you are looking for luxury you might want to consider somewhere else.

  • Liked — AC, pool, price, wireless internet
  • Disliked — bed, maid service, food

“Imagine - A Value in Cozumel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2008

The garden here is simple and relaxing. The pool is great and well maintained. The staff cleaned room each day. The room is simple, but it works, and it was nice to have fridge in room. The room AC was great, and was such a relief from the Cozumel sun. Breakfast was a treat, as I was introduced to some fruits I had never heard of, right from the garden. Have you eaten Guanabana? The most God-awful looking thing with spines on a brown skin, the size of a football. Inside, white pulpy meat that is sweet. The common area is outdoors, and can be hot, but I suspect that most folks are going to be out and about, diving tours, at the beach and whatnot, so for most folks this wouldn't be a problem. We enjoyed the other guests.
This place in a neighborhood, and most Gringo visitors don't realize that Cozumel actually has neighborhoods. I think that Amigos is a great value, and added to out trip.

“Cozumel find”

The grounds are beautiful!! Very nice pool. Very good continental plus breakfast. Easy walking distance to downtown and many local restaurants and grocery stores. The common palapa was great and the wifi worked well. The maid cleaned every day and did an excellent job. Nice little kitchen in room. Rooms very comfortable with A/C. Lots of good info about the island provided. Kathy was very helpful in getting our car rental straightened out.
Had the place to ourselves the first 2 days then another couple came.

  • Liked — The pool and grounds
  • Disliked — Not much cross ventilation in rooms

“For those seeking greater structure in their vacation”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 April 2008

If you find comfort and satisfaction in being on a schedule and following rules, this is definitely the place for you. However, for those merely seeking relaxation and not interested in following petty rules from an autocratic "host," you would be well advised to steer clear. Unless, that is, you have a taste for the ridiculous or the absurd in which case you are likely to find much entertainment in the long, trifling reprimands you can expect Kathy to be sliding under your door.

If you do decide to go, you may wish to note that while coffee is available for purchase, it may only be brewed in the afternoon or evenings and use of the milk or sweetener is strictly prohibited. For the recalcitrant who dare brew their coffee in the morning, expect to have it confiscated.
