“Great Value!!!”

We went to Cozumel for our second time and purchased a dive package with Suites Bahia and Aqua Safari. We had a 5 day dive package (5 days of 2 tank dives), and hotel that included breakfast at the sister hotel Casa Mexicana. Great value for the price- rooms were clean, staff was friendly, and location was very convenient. The breakfast at Casa Mexicana was fabulous! Eggs cooked to order a variety of breakfast buffet items, fresh fruit, coffee, juice and milk.

While the hotel wasn't particularly luxurious, it was a very safe, clean and convenient. We traditionally don't spend a lot of time in our room when on vacation anyway. There was a full size refrigerator and microwave, in a small kitchen area with a sink. We upgraded to a balcony room, which was great for drying out dive and snorkel gear.

“Great Location and Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We have stayed at the Suites Bahia the last five times to Cozumel. The location is great, being within walking distance of the square and the main pier. The rooms are a little out-dated, but clean and an attentive maid service. The front desk manager will go out of his way to help in anyway that is possible. The price includes a fantastic breakfast buffett at a sister hotel just down the road. Will return again soon.

“Great location, very helpful staff”

Suites Bahia, where I stayed from January 4th - 12, 2012, is beautifully located on the main street facing the harbor, just a few hundred meters south of the ferry terminal. Everything in the town in easily accessed on foot. Roberto, the gentleman behind the front desk, could not have been more helpful. He arranged a day trip to Chichen Itza, as well as a car rental for me.

The hotel is spotless, and the room I had was large, with a frig and two balconies overlooking the harbor and the town. Further, there is free internet in the lobby and included in the room rates are gorgeous breakfasts that are served at another hotel just down the street.

Room Tip: Room #48 is on the top floor and has great views.

“Best value for the money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

Excellent view-we were really lucky to get this room(we had reserved a standard room and instead we got this 130 degree seaview suite), very clean(I mean real white linens and towels), very big room with two queen beds, kitchenette, and two balconies+ great location( we walked around the entire conial town from there and we had a wonderful view of the international pier where cruise ships arrive). We had rented a car so going around the island and idling on the desserted beaches on the East coast was no big deal, but if you do not have a car, the taxi station was right underneath our balcony, so perfect location! This is by far the best value for money deal ever since we' ve been travelling in Mexico- approximately $60/ night, but I've heard of people who had paid cheaper off season(we stayed there from dec. 30th to Jan. 1st-so, of course it was more " expensive").
The air conditioning was a bit noisy, but it covered the street noise greatly at night.

“Good budget hotel, excellent location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2011

Suites Bahia is a very basic budget hotel with a great downtown location. Everything that you need is within walking distance. There are lots of great restaurants within walking distance. The main square is just a few blocks away. We chose the hotel because of the location and because we got an excellent flight + hotel deal on Orbitz.

We stayed in the most basic room that they have. It had two beds (one king and one double) separated by a little half wall. The beds are both typical hard Mexican beds. There is an old TV on the wall that has quite a few channels. The kitchenette had a microwave, fridge, sink, and some dishes and silverware in the cabinets and drawers. We didn’t cook or warm anything up while we were there, but the kitchen would be good for that if you do it. We did use the fridge for bottled water, which the hotel does not provide. There is a closet with a safe in it. The safe is very small, not nearly big enough for a laptop, and is only good for money or small electronics. There is a mirror and a sink outside of the bathroom. The bathroom has a toilet and a shower. There is no tub of any kind. We were there to scuba dive so we only went in the room to sleep and change. It was adequate for everything we needed it for. If we stayed there again I would get a room with a balcony because the dive gear didn’t dry very well inside the room and I think it would have dried much better outside.

The hotel does have free Wi-Fi for guests and it worked really well for us. I used Skype frequently throughout the week and the bandwidth was sufficient to stream video fairly well.

We didn’t rent a car, but if you do they do have parking available at no charge at the Punta Langosta Mall. It is a bit of a walk, but it is better than paying to park at one of the downtown lots every day.

Breakfast is included at the sister hotel Casa Mexicana. We ate breakfast there every day and it was very good. They have made to order omelets and eggs. They also have fresh juice and fruit. They don’t mix it up very much from day to day, but there is enough selection that we didn’t get bored of it.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone that is looking for a centrally located budget hotel. If you are looking for something fancy or are planning on spending a lot of time in the hotel, then I wouldn’t recommend it. If you are scuba diving I would recommend getting a room with a balcony to dry your gear.
