“Classy but not pretentious”

Easy walking access to boat docks and dive shop. Super clean, excellent quality all around at this sizable "resort" hotel. I don't typically stay in all-inclusives, and I think you get some options to include or not include food at this place. We didn't have it in our package because we like to get out on foot and explore the community, which we did and that was fun. We also ate here and it was just fine. Most of the floors are marble or tile in this place so it's a bit sterile, but everything in our rooms worked perfectly and was nice. I'd definitely go back to Hotel Cozumel. Oh and the diving was absolutely superb too, but that's probably why you're going here anyway as there really isn't a lot else to do.

“You get what you pay for!”

All-in-all, Hotel Cozumel is not bad. This is the third time we've stayed there over the years, all to go diving. There are minor things that are irritating (phones not working, plumbing issues) and more serious stuff (internet intermittent -- always disappearing with an email I had just written!), and the food, although plentiful (on their meal plan) lacks pizzazz. That's not why we were there, so we got what we should have. The price was low, location fairly convenient to town, and the people who work there have been around for years and are mostly extremely nice. Some of the management seem to characterize an annoying attitude: "that's the way it is, sorry!" The diving is set up well with lockers available at the dock with great wash tanks and places to dry while having lunch near the water before diving in the afternoon or going for a siesta. Unfortunately, it's not open everyday, so some days you have to trek back to the hotel and return for your gear. The worst part is the best dive sites are far down the island so the trips are long, often well exceeding an hour each way. That IS the worst part.
Noisy around the pool, music quite loud, making naps or going to sleep early difficult.
Good, not great in nearly every way. Services aren't "resort" style but adequate. Just don't try to cash a traveler's cheque! Although we were resident for 9 days on the third trip to the location, "sorry, you'll have to go to the bank for that!" Inconvenient and hard to believe. Don't know if I've ever stayed at a place this big -- it IS huge -- and wouldn't cash a travelers cheque.

Room Tip: Go quickly to the check in desk if you arrive on a bus (or minibus) -- they ARE SLOW!

“Great pool, work on food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

My mom stays here year after year (MANY guests have been come for years the same time); this was my second time. The pool deck is terrific - we spent every single day here for hours and didn't have reason to leave. The food was markedly worse than our prior visit - needs to be addressed (food appears reheat day after day; quality lacking; found some good items to eat time and again). I do like to watch tv at night, and found the channel selections in English to be lacking. Love the bartenders/getting "free" drinks. Each and every staff member is friendly and helpful - could not be better! Yes, the rooms are outdated and a bit tired, but the room was spic and span every day for us, and the landscaping is so beautiful! Location is so convenient for walking into town (we eat our dinners out -- so many good choices!).

Room Tip: Poolside. Oceanside is next to busy road.

“Very easy place to stay for a week of diving”

I have been there 5 times, and keep going back. It is a well polished all-inclusive resort. It is surely not the fanciest place around, nor is it one of the many diver's dumps on the island. The food is pretty good, and you will find a decent variety at each meal. I usually bring large groups, and even with 30+ people eating three meals a day over there, we have had no problem with eating the salads, fruits and other warned-against items. You will love the soups and the omelet lady.
The rooms are fine, nothing fancy, but fine. The diving is easy, as they have their own lockers and rinse tanks right by the dock. We use Aqua Safari, an off-site dive operator that I have been diving with for over 20 years. They are excellent, and will pick you up right at the scheduled time on the Hotel Coz dock.
You just can't beat the bang for the buck that you get in Coz, and Hotel Cozumel is a safe place to spend that buck.

“We'll be back”

Cozumel is one of our favorite places, and this trip was our fourth time staying at the Hotel Cozumel. The staff at the hotel and the location are what keep us coming back. The hotel is located about a mile from the center of town and it is an easy walk, or if you want to take the quick route it is only a couple of minutes by cab. The staff there has always been friendly and accommodating. It's not five star, but everything is clean and comfortable. For the value and the location you can't beat it. We're already looking at booking another trip there in 2012.
