This visit to Cozumel Palace was like returning to our Happiest Place on Earth. My wife and I had first been to Cozumel Palace in 2007 (http://www.tripadvisor.ca/ShowUserReviews-g150809-d153002-r13822546-Cozumel_Palace-Cozumel_Yucatan_Peninsula.html) with our best friends. It was the best vacation we had ever had at the time.
We were very excited to return in February 2012. Our arrival to the resort was handled quickly and efficiently by our transfer service. We were greeted at the front desk by welcoming smiles and words as well as refreshing scented facecloths and beverages. Our check-in and upgrades to concierge level were smooth and easy.
Meals were a highlight of our vacation. We experienced great service from Francisco, Gabriel, and Teodoro at breakfast. Chef Massimo, an elite athlete as well as a world class chef, graciously prepared my wife’s favorite breakfast, Chilaquiles de pollo. Pool drink service was prompt and frequent thanks to Roger, Fernando, Heri, or Emmanuel. Dinner was always fantastic when Evert took care of us in the Italian restaurant and we were impressed by Ronny and Ricardo’s service at La Buganbilias.
We spent a week dining on some of the best foods including tender steaks, lamb, succulent grouper fish, and delectable sushi. The wines we enjoyed were nicely balanced with the different food types and we always enjoyed the champagne.
The entertainment staff did a great job keeping us busy during the day around the pool. Aqua-aerobics, volleyball, and evening performances were fun and well done. The staff taking care of the Super Bowl party did a great job too!!! Thanks Brenda! I was impressed with Chef Herminio’s Vince Lombardi Trophy made from chocolate.
During our stay, we took advantage of the Palace Resort Credits for Spa treatments, the “Cozumel Everybody Loves Rays” tour, SCUBA diving with Aqua Safari Cozumel, and the day excursion to Chankanaab. I also did additional SCUBA dives with my divemaster Manuel in the park and was thoroughly impressed with the diving there. That being said, the snorkeling at the Cozumel Palace is very good. I saw anemones, rock lobsters, moray eels, some lion fish (these are an invasive species, impressive to see nonetheless), trumpetfish and barracudas among many others.
My wife and I went into St. Miguel to browse the shops and the town. It’s a pretty place and there are many shops. Many cater to the cruise ships selling t-shirts, jewellery, or general souvenirs. We felt very safe in town during our outing. Shops keepers were friendly and willing to help if needed.
We will be returning in November to watch the Cozumel IronMan competition and look forward to seeing our friendly food service manager Manuel as well as our sweet hostess Marina. We made a “Pinkie Promise” we’d come back so we have to keep our word.
