“Amazing Resort.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

This resort had a great beach, fantastic service and exceptionally good food in terms of variety and quality. Everyone that worked at Allegro was friendly, efficient and helpful if you needed anything. We would recommend this facility to anyone that is looking for a great all inclusive, at a fine facility that is clean, beautiful and friendly. Lots of great activites (we really recommend the jeep tour to get you oriented to the island highlights). And it was very safe on and off the resort. Water was just incredible for diving and snorkelling. The catamaran tour was great for stunning views. One word of caution: if you are averse to a lot of children, this is not the place to go.

Room Tip: Floor level rooms are generaly quieter as the second floor rooms have thatched roofs that sound easi...

This is our third vacation to Cozumel is as many years, but our first time staying at this hotel. We were al little unsure of what we were in for based on some of the reviews that were posted. Well, that being said we were pleasantly surprised. Upon our arrival we were greeted by staff and given refreshments. Check in was quick and easy, our bags were delivered to our rooms (tips are very much appreciatedbut not mandatory, a couple of dollars goes a long way).

Ok, let's talk food, the buffet was pretty much the same as the other resorts although it did lack in some areas such as variety and presentation. And it always seemed like there was a shortage of dishes. By all means not a show stopper and we managed quite well. The staff were more than willing to assist if there was an issue. The al a carts were good , but it would have been nicer to use the pool restaurant for buffet as well. It would be really nice to see the pool resturaunts and bars open longer. It's a shame to be upstairs in the main restaurant and bar when there are areas outside by the pools and beach. Cozumels sunsets and evenings need to be experienced!

The facilities are absolutely beautiful and well maintained. There were postings about the rooms being dated and issues with cleaniless. Ok maybe they are a bit dated but the maintenance crew were doing a great job in replacing railings and painting the hot tub etc (yes people sometimes work around the resort effects your visit, things need to be done To maintain equipment). Very little inconvience for amount of work needed. Our rooms were cleaned daily, and done with a very high standard. The resort practices green environment initiatives by giving options for towels and sheets, please respect the environment!

My daughters had their referral for their open water certification which was done by the resorts dive shop. The entire team at the dive shop was AWESOME! They were outgoing, helpful, polite...thank you! There is a great deal of focus on safety and respect for the marine park, they take a great deal of pride in the park and expect it from every visitor!!! Our dive master (who certified my daughters) Ingacio "NACHO" Munoz was fantastic! He made the girls feel comfortable and relaxed throughout their certification! A real pleasure to dive with! Thank you Nacho hope to see you next year.

The resort may not be rated as a 4 or 5 star, but if you like a relax, whether it be with a young family or older couples this is a very nice place to stay.

For the divers, great dive shop, great staff, great experience!

Just remember that you are there to relax and enjoy yourself. No need to rush anything! We will definitely be returning next year!

“Great Family Fun at the Allegro”

This was our second trip to Allegro and we had a wonderful time! We travelled with our 6 year old and 1 year old. A few choices we made helped our vacation here run smoothly:

- We asked for a room far away from the entertainment so our kids could sleep without the noise coming from the nightly shows. We had a room by the kids pool/ play park.
- We had a ground floor room so there was no issue of our 1 year old potentially falling down the outer stairs and also no issue of the grass roof leaking when it rains (as posted by others).
- We brought a small alarm clock as the rooms have none.
- We brought our toddler utensils for our 1 year old
- We tipped each meal ($1 or $2 US). These waiters work for about $5 a day, so they hustle for tips and the service was fantastic.
- We packed lightly and used the laundry services ($3 to wash, $3 to dry).

The staff was curteous and very helpful in all circumstances. We did use the Kids Club for our 6 year old and she really enjoyed it (face painting, sand castles etc). The property is aging but you can tell they do their best for upkeep. For our family , the Allegro is a very good choice for a family vacation and excellent value for the price. Our children had a terrific time and their smiles make it all worthwile. My husband could not stop talking about how happy he was with the food and the variety offered at each meal. Breakfast was the best, and the display cooking for omlettes was something we enjoyed every morning. We did rent a car ($100/day) and enjoyed the sights of Cozumel. We are already discussing our third return trip to Allegro!

“Great Resort, Great value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

I stayed at the Allegro for my 40th birthday. I had scoured tripadvisor for other reviews before I left, and kept the negative points in my mind before we left. Anyone who gives this place a bad review, I do no think anything would make them happy. This was a classy place and they bent over backwards to make you happy.

One thing you have to remember is, this is an Island, so things like reliable high speed inet, are hard to come by. This is not in the USA or Canada, so you have to lower your expectations for things.
They run a great Children's Program, so if you have kids, bring them along, there were lots of them, but their area is far enough away from the adult places, that you hardly even see them or hear the inevitable "boo boo" cries at their play pool.

They have a fantastic beach, and a great swimming area, that is perfect for learning to snorkel, with a 10 to 15 deep, deep area, and a few sunken items, that now have coral, and fish around them. Having schools of fish swim around you as you frolic is the norm, so you do not need to be a diver to enjoy the marine wildlife here.

The food was above average for an all inclusive resort, with the main buffet restaurant, changing it's theme everynight.

I will be going back to stay here again next year

Room Tip: Upper rooms with thatched roofs are susceptible to dripping in rain
