“dont judge by their website”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 June 2007

Don't judge this hotel by its website. I saw the Piramide Inn's website and was impressed by it so booked for 2 nights.

When we arrived it was so run down...like something that would have been good in the 60's in its hey day. The rooms were relatively clean however the whole "resort" if you could call it this was so run down.

The pool needed cleaning, concrete lounge chairs around the pool were broken, bar area looked like it hadnt been used for 20 years. The restaurant was closed although the website gave us a voucher for breakfast.

No one spoke any english so it was difficult to communicate.

In hindsight we would have been better off just doing Chichen Itza as a day trip and not staying in Piste however we didnt want to spend the night in Cancun

“Posada piramida no es una ruina”

I was at Piramide inn with my son, where we stayed for 4 nights whilst visiting the nearby piramids. I must say that the place was quite enjoyable... the showers are up to standards for this area of the world, the pool is amazing! the waters were clean enough for my son to dive for coins at the bottom...the restaurant has excellent food and service. The staff is friendly and helpfull -note that we speak spanish fluently - and we found the surroundings pleasant enough as well as the locals. Compared to many places in central america, piramide inn ranks as one of our favorite spots, and would stay there again.

“Worst Hotel in the World”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2005

We must warn you about this hotel if you are thinking of staying here. Based on all the reviews, half of which were good and half of which were bad, we decided to take the risk. It was a mistake. What we found out is that all the bad reviews are true! And we even took pictures so that you can judge for yourself. This place is so run down that mold grows in the shower, algae grows around the rusty faucet, and plaster was falling from the ceiling. The room reeked of mildew, and the hotel staff had a major attitude. The ads for this place are not honest at all.

The hotel’s website states, “Check-out time is 12:00 noon. If you need additional time, notify us prior to your departure day”. This is completely misleading. Our bus to Playa del Carmen didn’t leave until 2pm the next day so we asked the receptionist if we could check out at 2pm after we returned from Chichen Itza. He insisted that we could not. We asked about what we read on the web-page. He pretended that he didn’t know anything. He told us that we could only leave our luggage at the counter while we visited Chichen Itza. We ended up leaving our luggage at the counter the next day, thinking someone would be there to watch it. After we returned from Chichen Itza, we were shocked to discover that there was no one at the counter besides a sleeping dog who didn’t even wake up when we picked up our luggage. Anyone could have stolen our bags and no one would have known.

We paid $40 at Piramide Inn and found out that there are other accommodations in Piste that cost half the price. For example you can get a better room for only $20 at a guesthouse. You will have to find the guesthouse when you arrive in Piste since it doesn’t have web-site. But if you are going there in the off-season, finding a room should not be a problem. Piste is a small town, and only has one main street, so finding the guesthouse shouldn’t be too difficult. I wished we had done that. Check out our pictures if you are still thinking about staying at this place. It’s totally not worth it!

“To stay or not”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2005

You want to read this allll the way to the end.....trust me-where should i start. Well... It all began one hot summer day in july when a group of 150 students who paid 4 thousand dollars to be in a luxurious hotel .we were evacuated to the piramide inn in yucatan mexico. we arrived and were distressed to notice where our new destination was to be. they say dont judge a book by its cover so i thought i'd be the one to give it a chance. so i walked in to my room to find random light bulbs unsfaely sticking out of the walls (our only source of light). Cockroaches were found both in students showers and beds but along with disgusting bugs the students also noted that dirty used condoms were comming afloat from the drain in their showers. Directly after they noticed these they decided to just relax by the "pool". They could not even see the bottom as it was infested with bugs, mucus, and algea. The towels were only given out as two towels per room even if the room held 4 or more people. they were not only small amounts of towels but they were about 15 years old and just hanging by threads. And you think a vacation costing 4 thousand dollars can't get any worse? well you have to eat don't you?? THERE WAS NO FOOD AT THE HOTEL!!! The only "restaurant" you could eat at was also the only variety store located on the ONLY ROAD! They fed us moldy bread with cheese as pizza and when you go home to your lovely piramide inn suit, your toilet clogs and the power is off with no running water. I strongly reccomend no one to ever even go just to pass by this disgusting motel. it is just a shack on a dirt road. worst motel in the world.

signed, someone who travels alot and know theres a better place out there!

“Nice deep pool - food bad.”

This hotel is more like a motel in appearance and has OK rooms which are not bad value for money. There is a lovely deep pool which is the hotel's best feature. The rooms have air con and there is some traffic noise but nothing too bad when I was there. The food I had in the evening was poor although the service was good.
