I paid equivalent price for a private room w ensuite in the Hostel Catedral in Mexico City (USD$35) last week and while it was a smaller room & had no AC- it was much cleaner, more secure, more professionally run etc. This room is very basic and the shower is clean enough which is fine but it all feels (the bed & linen particularly) a bit skanky. The staff did give me a toilet seat (!) immediately upon request. Keen as to get out of here. Wouldn't recommend it and won't be back.

This hotel was really a low point in our trip. I would not stay there again. The room had no windows, just a bed with a stained mattress, sheets and towels that were not very clean and a dirty mosquito net patched with a band-aid. I mean, come on. The staff was not very friendly, the pool was filthy. The shared women's bathroom had no running water in the sink, just a bottle of hand gel. There was no air-conditioning and it was terribly hot. The hotel is within walking distance from the bus depot, granted, but there is a modest looking hotel right across the street that I would have tried had I not already booked here.

I stayed here twice and had one good and one bad experience. The second time I stayed, I returned from a day out to find my sheets, pillow, clothing and a brand new deoderant taken from my bed. Thinking the cleaners might have picked them up, I asked at reception but was told that was not possible (so cleaners took my sheets but someone else just coincidentally stole clothes off only that bed... ?). I was given a sheet to sleep with but told I couldn't have a pillow as it was my own fault for not putting it in my locker. Bizarre. Annoying as I didn't have money left to replace anything, so had a very cold and smelly trip home, thanks El Meson de Tulum.

very nice hostel near bus terminal with a swimming pool, i recommend it....
