“AMAZING !!! The Royal Cancun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

I never write reviews but after this trip I feel it is a must.
We originally booked the Gran Porto Real Playa Del Carmen through Westjet Vacations for 7 nights, on our 2nd night there we were offered a free upgrade to their sister property The Royal Cancun..

Absolutely 100% yes we took this opportunity.
Junior suite Oceanfront is awesome..

You want absolute 5 Star 5 Diamond The Royal is the place.

The service here is like nothing I have ever experienced anywhere it is exceptional and I have travelled to a lot of resorts.

The food is fantastic you will never be short of something to eat.

Chef's Plate is a 6 course set menu I decided not to do this as I am not into that kind of food. Our friends did this and said it was great.

Maria Maria is amazing the Chateau Briand steak is to die for.

Asianna make a reservation for downstairs where the chef cooks in front of you its a great show and food is remarkable. You choose what you want to eat chicken, beef, shrimp etc

The staff at this resort really go out of their way for you.
I wanted plain french fries shoestring no seasoning they sent someone out to the store to buy them for me completely blown away by that.

We ordered room service one night pasta. They sent up the wrong pasta sauce on it we made them aware of it and went to the buffet.
When we arrived back to our room there was a huge plate of chocolate covered strawberries and a chocolate statue waiting for us..An apology for using the wrong pasta sauce.

Anyone who complains about this resort is obviously someone who complains about everything and nothing makes them happy.
I'm a pretty picky person and there wasn't one thing I didn't like.

This is truly a 5 Star Luxury Resort..

Also to the people who said there money got stolen as they left in a bag on the floor this may have happened we never experienced that and also there are in room safes for a reason. you pick your own code lock up money passports valuables etc..

Treat your self to the best vacation of your life once you stay at The Royal Cancun nothing else will compare..

Room Tip: All the rooms here are junior suites. Categories are as follows: Junior suite- has no ocean view...

“If you don't love this hotel, I don't know what you expect from a holiday resort.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

Stayed at the Royal in Cancun for 2 weeks and all I can say is: the name covers the expectations!

Of course, like every hotel, there are little things which could be better, but honestly these 2 weeks flew by and we hate to have to leave the Royal. Some people will complain about the smallest details, well I have one advice: just stay home if you think nothing is good enough for you and let other people enjoy their holidays. :)

The hotel itself is beautiful, spacious and clean. The staff is professional and warm (especially Carlos from guest services, Laura the hostess in the restaurants and some of the waiters deserve special credit too: Luigi and Roy at Chef's plate and Maria Marie).

The rooms are spacious and luxurious. Great bathroom, nice jacuzzi (although we rarely used it, it was fun to be able to use it in your suite). The bed is a kingsize and okay quality ( could be a little better, but a decent bed). Tv and soundsystem are good. The magic box for the room service is a good idea, you'll see this when you arrive.

The food and beverages:

The drinks are of a decent quality, some may be to your taste, others not, but that's personal taste. (people who expect For example a champagne like Moët &Chandon in the all in, dream on, you get a good cava/ prosecco, just to say some people are expecting too much....)

The restaurants:
Spice: buffet restaurant. Good quality, but the others are better.
Pelicanos: great for lunch, didn't like it that much for dinner, checkout the other options in the evening.
Asiana: great tepanyaki (reservation) and decent à la carte asian restaurant.
Maria Marie: very high quality à la carte restaurant, nice place, great food and professional staff. (reservation)
Pinxtos tapas: no reservation needed and a small menu of different tapas of great quality.
Chef's plate: reservation, 1 x per week for certain suites only. The best molecular food, a great female chef and although some people didn't like the food because it was too special for their taste, I would say: open your mind ( and mouth :)) and just try it. We loved the cuisine, it was a quality like we are used to have in Europe.

The real club: we went to listen to the whole club idea, but it wasn't our thing.

Cancun is a great place to stay and easy access to visit beautiful places like Chichen Itzá, Cobá, Tulum,... We rented a great car at Avis ( full coverage) and we would advise Avis to rent: great choice, friendly people, full coverage ( rental carsin the Royal don't have full coverage and this is very important!) and the rates are okay. The roads are easy, clean to drive, so you have the freedom to visit whatever you like, when you like it.

The spa at the Royal was great too: free access and the massages are great. Did a mayan ritual and this was a once in a lifetime experience.

All in all: super holiday and would advise the Royal in Cancun!

Room Tip: Take minimum a royal junior suite ocean front, so you have the royal service included

Me and my partner travel alot, we have been to cancun 3 times and just everything about this hotel was perfect. When we return to cancun which will hopefully be soon we are for sure staying here again.

Staff- were always avaliable to answer any questions we had they made our vacation very pleasant and would give them 5 stars for the customer service we received.

Food- the quality of food was just fantastic. Mini bar was stocked daily and room service was never to long.

Hotel overall- very clean, rooms are just the right size, jacuzzi in the rooms are a bonus! The pools were not to busy And also kept clean. Beach was amazing

Would come back already looking to return this year! I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting cancun.

“Our 3rd time here and still loving it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

We checked in and got a room on the 8th floor since we picked our room a couple of days before. We upgraded and a couple of days later we moved into the swim up suite and it was well worth it. You don't have to get up early to go and get a chair, you can get up when you want and just go out to your own chair. Then when you lose the sun about 1:30, go out to the big pool or the beach, plus everything is so much closer being on the bottom floor. Spice is the best place breakfast and good for lunch. There is so much selection and all the staff are fantastic. Eduardo and Lino in Spice, Baak, Eloisa, Hope and Miriam at the Beach bar, Louis and Moses, at he Lobby Bar and Rafael who cleans your sunglasses every day are awesome. These staff may not remember our names every year, but they remember our faces and welcome us with open arms and and a smile. The resort has changed slightly somewhat over the last couple of years. They ran out of beer last year and this year (who runs out of beer???), as for the liquor, it appears that they have changed some of the alcohol from premium brands to not so premium brands. While the food is still good, we have noticed that the quality has slipped slightly. My husband and I went and had a couple's massage and thoroughly enjoyed it. My husband had Josephina as his massager and was very satisfied. We both got the relaxing massage and felt like jello when we were finished. All in all, we love The Royal and will keep coming back.

Room Tip: Rooms ending with 20 and up are quieter, being farther away from the music in the pool
