Stayed 2 nights at the Holiday Inn Arenas on an all-inclusive package. My wife and I are very frequent travelers and we stayed using a Priority Club award so we did not pay for the stay. I still would not go back.
On the positive side the staff is friendly and the hotel is new.
On the negative side, it is far from everything, on a very small beach full of seaweed, the sun is gone from the pool area at 3:00PM, the all inclusive is minimal, local drinks only (bottled beer is considered premium), wine is served from a bottle but comes from a box (amusingly if you ask where the wine is from the waiters will tell you whatever is on the label).
The hotel appears to have been made from the cheapest construction materials, the walls are paper-thin and I had to use earplugs because our neigbour was snoring, the sun peers out through the curtains in the morning. The buffet is rather bad, the other 2 restaurants, which open alternatively, do serve some decent food, though nothing outstanding. Housekeeping did not replace the towels or the water.
I am a Platinum member of Holiday Inn's program, meaning I stay at hotels of the chain frequently, this one to me is sub-par in terms of infrastructure and amenities, particularly for a resort, and the friendly service cannot make up for that.
