“City express Cancun, basic”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 May 2009

We only spent 2 nights at city express, before our trip to playa del carmen. We chose this hotel because we went on a day trip to isla mujeres, and we got free nights with our credit card points. Basic accomodations, bussines center, continental breakfast, cable TV, AC...etc. there was construction next door and it was annoying, it would have been nice if the front desk would have told us about this. overall a nice place to stay for 1 or 2 nights tops, it's mostly for bussines travelers. If you are looking for beach vacation then do not book here. If you are only passing by then give it a try.

“Clean and nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2009

This hotel is great for an overnight stay or for emergency. It is a few minutes bus ride to the touristic area. I had a room on the bottom floor and everything was perfect (very clean, beds were comfy, tv with a lot of channels). The breakfast was more than OK for the price.

There is a nice shopping mall (food court, movie theater, supermarket) across the street wich is not filled with tourists. You can make a few bargain there comparing with the stores (especially on booze) in the touristic strip. I sayed at the City Express while my mother was at an hospital nearby. It was definitely not the kind of holliday I was expecting (especially since I had won this trip on Riviera Maya) but City Express was the most confort I got during that frentic week.

P.S: I managed myself speaking spanish since I am fluent in Portuguese. Can't tell if people in general can help you in English at the hotel or shopping mall.

“Stay Away”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2008

We stayed here for one night before flying out. A "friend" made the reservation and recommendation. The rooms smelled and the floors were dirty and there weren't enough towels. The room was $100 and it was a $40 dollar (20 minutes) cab ride to the airport. You are way better off staying at the Sea-view Cancún Resort for and $150 and getting a free ride to the airport.

“Great layover hotel!”

Brand new hotel. We missed our flight leaving Cancun while we were on vacation in Akumal. We had to stay the night in Cancun. Our rental car agent booked us a room here. It is brand new. Clean. Budget-based. Much like a Microtel Inn in the United States. Inexpensive. They provided some toiletries, very prompt service, lots of extra towels and pillows, lots of hot water, FREE bottled water, FREE satellite and WiFi service and great customer service. Be sure to tip the bellman 10 pesos for each bag he carries. The FREE continental breakfast was extremely convienent, delicious and thorough. Most of Cancun is built up already and newer hotels are having to go to the edges of the downtown area to build but it is still 2 blocks from the Walmart, Mc Donalds and a grocery store. We are seasoned world travelers and appreciated the hotel for what it was.

Overall: very good value for the money, especially being in Cancun. I would definitely stay here again.

“Not again!”

This was a mistake. There is nothing near, or at this hotel (unless you want to shop at the mall across the road). The room smelled stale and anyone I dealt with made no attempt to speak the slightest bit of English. I was even unable to get a receipt for the stay.
