If you like rustic, this is the place for you. Gorgeous uncrowded white sand beach, with swaying palms. Perfect for swimming and snorkeling. We got an ocean front hut with a sand floor for $35/night. Shared bath that was new and clean with pretty mosaic tiling. No electricity, except for a generator in the evenings for some light. No real plumbing so there was a faint sewage smell around the bathrooms, which is very common for Mexico. There are a number of hammocks around the property perfect for lounging with a good book. The views are incredible from the bar, and the huts. Miles of blue water, blue sky, and white beach. Unlike many of the other places to stay farther down the road, we could ride bikes to the ruins at Tulum, the town of Tulum (excellent pizza at La Nave) as well as some Ceynotes (underground rivers where you can swim.) Located right next door to Cabanas Copal and many others are within walking distance for a variety of restaurants and bars to hang out in. Cabanas Copal is definitely a step up if you want your own bathroom. Highly recommend this uncrowded beautiful corner of Mexico away from all the high rise hotels and touristy areas of Cancun. 1 1/2 hour drive from Cancun airport.
