Just returned from week at Gran Caribe Real and enjoyed the facility, beach and food. The Italian restaurant was very good. Good location to catch the bus to shopping and off site bars/restaurants. Based on the number of families with little children, it appears they cater to families with their kids club. Plan to take our whole family back as our grandkids would enjoy the water park area for kids. Our only problem was the room reservations we had was overbooked (at least that is what they told us upon arrival) and wanted to upgrade of for just one night and then move to the type of room we had reserved. After asking to speak to the Front Desk Supervisor, they found a room for us which was somewhat like our room reservation. So, I complained more and we got the room we had originally reserved. The front desk was the only area we had problems with when checking-in. However, it was not just us, as I heard many people complaining when they checked in that the front desk advised they were overbooked but could change rooms the next day. Some individuals felt it was a scam upgrade free for first night and then hopefully you would like room and pay extra for balance of stay. They try to upgrade you at additional cost. They also try to sell you their vacation club for many thousands of dollars. Did not purchase vacation club deal.

I will not recommend this hotel in Cancun. There are many more optios with more higher quality and better price. Rooms are below average, the food of terrible quality and the drinks are made from the cheapest spirits in Mexico.

I come to Cancun every year and this was the worst experience until today. I stayed in this hotel because it was the location for a friend's wedding and unfortunately was nos the best place to stay. By the way the food of the wedding was of very bad quality. No place for a wedding reception.

We were at the Gran Caribe Real in Cancun in January 2012. We have stayed there several times and have enjoyed it each time we were there. Many members of our family have joined us and they enjoyed it also. Everyone provides the best service you could ask for and goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome but the ones listed below, in one way or another, have far exceeded our expectations. We have the Bell Captain Angel Bello and Carlos Alvarez who meet us and take good care of us all through our vacation along with Rodrigo, Octavian, Issac and Cesar. Then we make our way to the front desk to check in, Jonathan, Israel and Eunice are always cheerful and very helpful. Arianna helps us with our money exchange. We enjoy all of our meals at the restaurants because of the great atmosphere created by the staff such as: Captain Fernando Leyva and his Hostesses Edith and Rachel of Albatross; Captain Enrique Samarripa of Gaviotas along with his Hostess Lily and Chef Clarivel and the staff, Vero, Abel, Pablo, Fermin, Mena, Roberto, Tony, Lino and Alejandro; Captain Edgar and Fernando of the Sunset Grill. The waitresses, Linda, Fatima, Chely, Felicia and Norma along with Martin the bartender keep us in our choice of drinks. Our room was always spotless thanks to Leonida. We know Manuel takes great care of the swimming pools. The sixth floor concierge and all of the other ones we have dealt with have been wonderful and very helpful. The recreation directors are great to watch. There are many other great employees but we don’t know them as well and don’t have their names. The hotel is always clean, the food is great, the service is wonderful, the entertainment is enjoyable. We commend the owner, managers and entire staff for all they do to make a great vacation and are already looking forward to our next one. We would highly recommend The Gran Caribe Real Hotel to anyone.

We went to our first all-inclusive holiday for our parents 50th anniversary! There were 11 of us in total, including 4 kids from 9 mon to 12 years old. When we first arrived it was quite the process checking in as there were lots of other people arriving as well. we found the hotel lobby very impressive and the rooms were nice. We booked a couple dinners at Marias but found the food at the Sunset Grill and gavitoras much better, along with the service. We had a server named Angel at Gavitoras who was just that an angel, treated us like gold on the first night which kept us coming back, we were there for 2 weeks! We also took in spin classes every morning at 8 with Daniel and absolutely loved him, wish i could have brought him back with us to my gym! We all had the same maid Bertha who kept our room clean every day, she was a sweetheart! My favorite front desk guy would be Ramon Mayo the funny guy, always had the biggest smile! there was 3 of us from the clan that took advantage of the massage treatments and found that to be heaven! Our 2 girls, 8 and 5, enjoyed the kids pool but wouldn't go as far as going to the kids club! They met lots of friends and liked playing in the pool and slides! All in all i think our trip was awesome and we would definetly come back, didn't want to leave in the first place...lots of great food,service,entertainment and people!!!!!
