“Good for families or young adults”

We thought the view from the room was beautiful and the beach was nice, but it was pretty shallow(never over about 4 feet) and there were a lot of sea urchins in the water.
The food was pretty good, not a lot of variety. We thought the Mexican restaurant was best, but you have to reserve a spot real early in the mornng. There seemed to be a lot of people and not a lot of places to eat. It rained a couple of days and in order to get out of the rain, you pretty much had to go to your room because the one buffet was full and the other restaurants were closed. It would have been nice to have an area like a coffee shop where you could just get a cup of coffee or tea to sit there or take out.
When we were there it was packed with young adults/kids and they were very rude (with a couple of exceptions) so it was not a place we felt very comfortable in.
The rooms were clean, but damp. The couple we went with had a room that was very damp and the ac did not work very well at all. There also wasn't any line in the shower to hang wet suits, so everything stayed pretty damp.
The staff in the restaurants were very nice and helpful, but the front desk, not so much. We were not able o return our beach towels on the beach because they did not have towel cards to return to us, and the front desk would not accept them, so we had to go back and forth with wet towels several times just to return them to get our card back.
You need to get to the beach early to get a lounge chair.
The other bad thing is that someone is always asking about timeshare/vacation clubs in the lobby.
It is close to shopping and clubs.

Room Tip: Higher floors do not have balconys, so there is nowhere to ang wet clothes. All rooms look they have...

“Waste of money!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

Upon arrival, we discovered a room with cracks and damage to the wooden door, mold and mildew in the bathroom, a broken air conditioner, and beds that felt wet from the dampness. We immediately notified the Apple Rep and were told "give us a chance to fix it." None of the issues were fixed and we requested a room change. They claimed to be unable to arrange that. The food was mediocre at best -- buffet food that we had a hard time identifying most days. You have to secure seats at the beach or pool by 7:30 a.m., or you won't get one. The ATM in the lobby was broken for the five days we were there, and they refused to give change. We were charged for the use of the room safe and expected to give tips for not-so-great service. The one bar in the lobby was the only place to go in the evenings. There is no entertainment at the hotel at all. This is in no way a 4 star hotel. The only positives were the outside grill that served burgers and the sushi bar at the pool. The entertainment at the pool was horrible and too loud. The music was depressing (careless whisper...really? all day long) and they screamed all day into a microphone in Spanish. After this experience, I would never return to this hotel chain or recommend it. I've stayed at other 4 and 3 star hotels in Cancun, and this was pretty bad.

“excellent beach for children, families”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

I was here last december 2011 with a friend. As everybody says you get what you paid for. It is not luxurious or a place for honey moons but if you just want to chill this is a good place not to expensive. I wanted to write this review for those who may be afraid of big waves or can't swim that well but would love to try the real caribbean sea in a super safe place. Well, if that is your case, this is an excellent place for that. This hotel is located in a spot that has very shallow water with no currents, no big nor medium size wave (only tiny small waves). Its perfect for children to play in the water by themselves, perfect for seniors and people who are no swiming experts. The hotel rents out kayaks and has a type of net around the safe shallow area so you know up to where you can walk safe or ride your kayak safe.
I grew up by the Golf of Mexico and I do know how to swim, but in 2006 I stayed at another hotel in Cancun and decided to go into the sea for a swim. I got trapped in a current and big waves dragged me into deep water. I had to be rescued by a friend. So, I've learnt that some places are dangerous to swim. You can tell where it is dangerous because they display flags and warnings like red is dangerous, orange etc. Be Live Viva Beach has a private beach where you can relax and have no worries about the caribbean sea currents. I really recommend it. Food, rooms could be better but its a very nice beach. Warning: avoid walking to the other hotels beaches some of them have warnings about sharp stones. I cut my right foot with a sharp stones while walking without shoes away from my hotel beach. The staff at Be Live Viva beach brought a first aid kid and a nurse and helped me. No charge. The staff is very nice.

Room Tip: don't choose rooms in the first floor. they are older. Go to the bars at night. They are really...

“Really enjoyed our stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Excellent food, friendly and courteous staff, nice beach (with a few rocks but not many waves), and all the rooms face the beach which is rare in Cancun. The hotel is pretty quiet (some friends stayed elsewhere and had difficulty sleeping due to all the partyers). The location is excellent and within walking distance of most of the good clubs and restaurants. The room was fine, but the shower curtain was way too flimsy and wrapped around us. The cleaning staff kept the room nice, but weren't too good at replacing towels and facecloths. The pin on the map at right is incorrect - the hotel is located just east of Pok-ta-Pok Blvd.
