Rooms - Lovely rooms which are well furnished. Fridges are re-stocked everyday with soft drinks, water and alcoholic beverages. We also had a room with a fantastic sea view and overlooked the infinity pool. Fridge was leaking on one occasion so we informed reception and it was fixed within 30 minutes.

Pools - Fantastic idea of two pools, one for activity and one for relaxation. These two pools are situated far apart from one another so you can choose whether you want to take part in water games or laze around in peace. Activities taking place constantly which kept children and teenagers occupied all of the time.

Beach - Lovely beach. Many people commented on how small it is (a result of being eroded during hurricanes) but for us it was lovely and the seas were warm and gentle. You could not get us out of the sea the whole time we were there. Lovely waters!

All inclusive - Breakfast was great with the option of sitting inside or out on the verandah. Plenty of fruit juices, tea, coffee, cereals, yoghurt's, croissants, fried breakfast etc. Lunch was absolutely lovely, sitting on the verandah with every food option imaginable, including meats, fish, fresh fruit etc. There is also the option of eating in the Italian restaurant for lunch which is also lovely and offers pizza, pasta, bruschetta etc. Well worth a try!

Dinner options were fantastic but unfortunately did not try the Japanese as we are not fans but heard from other guests that the food was very good. The buffet was okay but we felt that the food options became very repetitive each night so try as many as the other restaurants as possible! The gourmet and tapas restaurants were very good and would definitely recommend but we did not like the Brazilian as you are served each piece of meat separately and we didn't feel as though we were eating a meal. The Steakhouse restaurant was fantastic and we went there on more than one occasion. Must try!

This resort is a fantastic value for money and during the day the bar staff work fantastically well and every 10 minutes ask if you want another drink and wait on you hand and foot. They were amazing!

Surrounding area - Cancun is a fantastic resort and is very lively. Riu Las Americas is far enough away so as not to hear the noise but is close enough to walk within 5-10 minutes. Must go to nightclub Coco Bongo's which was the setting of the movie 'The Mask' and also try and visit Senor Frogs which is a Mexican themed bar which later turns into a nightclub.

Fantastic resort, amazing food, gorgeous beach, attentive staff. Book now!

Outstanding value. Hotel is beautiful, service as great, rooms are nice. The food was very good. I did not like the specialty restaurants that much. The general dining room was better. There is one complaint. Internet access is only available in the lobby and it is spotty at best. If you need to stay in touch with your office or business this is not the place to stay.

Where should I begin. In the past 4 times that I have vacationed in Mexico I have stayed at Palace Resorts. Riu Palace was just as great as they were.

When you first walk in you stand in awe, the lobby room is massive and decorated beautifully. You are welcomed with a drink by a staff member. My sister and I arrived around 1:30 in the afternoon. When we were checking in they had a parital ocean view room for us, we asked for an ocean view. They asked us to waith til 3:00 and they would see what they could do, by 2:00 we had an ocean view room with a balcony. We were on the third floor in the middle of the pool. What a great view. Check in was easy and stress free.

The room was great. Clean, beautifully decorated, and a frig stocked with many variety of drinks; water, Pepsi, 7 Up..., of course there was the liquor dispenser. I was disappointd that we did not have a coffee maker, but we just asked for early morning room service and they would bring us a pot of coffee. Pretty fast service on the coffee.

The food was delicious. You do need reservations for the speciality restaurants each night. We emailed ahead of time and they made us a reservation for the Brazilian Restaurant , Los Arcos, for our first night. The spanish restaurant, Tio Pepe Tapas was our favorite. My sister ate the best steak she has ever had. The service is wonderful and the food presentation is jsut perfect. This restaurant has a bullfighting theme, fascinating. We ate at Krystals one night. It has a victorian theme and the food was beautifully presented., and the service was wonderful. We both decided that it was our least favorite for no peticular reason.

The pools are beautiful and cleaned everyday. The pool entertainment is very well planned and excuted. We had a great deal of fun with the games and activities. The pool service is fast and prompt. We sat in the same place each day, our waiter Jamie knew our refreshment choice and never let us have an empty glass. We did tip him at the beginning of the each day, he worked really hard all day and deserved tipping. My sister also tipped the young lady that kept the pool restroom so clean. She teared up when my sister gave her a tip.

The beach was good as well. There were a few rocks but you can see them through the crystal clear water. We had fun swimming and floating in the ocean. Beautiful turquoise bule water.

The night entertainment was fun. The Michael Jackson show was excellent. The theater is very nice, good comfortable chairs, it is on the inside, and the drink service is very good.

I would highly recoomended a stay at Riu Palace. We will be going back next October.

Before we set off, we viewed all the wonderful uploaded photos to get some idea of what to expect with this being our first trip to the Riu Place. What we realised on arrival was that no amount of photos can do this place justice. It was jaw droppingly gorgeous. Which ever way you looked, the view was spectacular.
Let's start at the beginning. The room was beautiful - spacious and with a fantastic sea view, huge comfortable bed, well stocked mini bar and optics and cleaned daily with a vengeance by the manic cleaning staff. The main buffet restaurant had so much choice for each meal that it should satisfy even the fussiest eater. Reservations for the other restaurants had to be made two days in advance, but booking a table was never a problem, and well worth the wait. The food in these restaurants cannot be faulted and we never left feeling we could have eaten more. The infinity pools were fantastic and it was nice to have the choice of a quiet pool if we were feeling a bit fragile. The lively pool had the entertainment staff keeping everybody busy playing volleyball, doing aquarobics , yoga and salsa lessons. by the way these guys were brilliant 24/7. The bar staff were constantly on the go around the pool terraces and beach, asking you/ if they can get you anything to drink. Once you ordered a drink, they would be back again bringing you another and remembering your order most of the time. The main lobby bar has the best barman in all Mexico. Abundio keeps you entertained with his great sense of humour. If you turn your back there's usually another drink waiting for you when you turn around. You literally have to say no.
I could go on all day about this place. All in all you really have to see it to believe it. Please believe all the great reviews you read because it is probably the most impressive hotel you are ever likely to stay in. Tipping the staff here was a pleasure, they cannot do enough to make your stay more enjoyable. We've already booked to go back again next year, and it can't come soon enough.

This is genuinely the best hotel I have ever stayed in!

The hotel itself is absolutely gorgeous! The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful.

From the moment you arrive, until the moment you leave, it is amazing.

I travelled with my boyfriend to Cancun for a holiday, and we stayed 7 nights. We loved every minute of it.

Most days we got up early and ate at the main buffet breakfast. There was always a great selection of food and drinks. The waiters/waitresses are always checking if you require more fruit juice, coffee, etc, and are very helpful.

We enjoyed sitting at the infinity pool after breakfast as this pool had the most fabulous double loungers. Again, a waiter will come round and bring your drinks to you, and take orders for the next ones!

The lobby bar was again a lovely area, great to relax with a cool drink after being out shopping, or returning from being out and about.

Lunch we always had at the buffet restaurant, again there was always a great selection of food.

You can pre-book a table for the many restaurants for dinner. Again, the food at dinner time was fabulous.

In the evenings, the market comes round - great for souveniers, gifts, or just to browse!

The entertainment was really brilliant. We went to the shows 6 nights out of 7, and always had a great time.

If you don't want to go out, enjoy the free room service!

Excellent maid service, along with nightly tuck down of sheets, rose petals on your bed, free mini bar & optics.

I highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Mexico.
