We had a very nice time. Positives: impeccable service. Smiling wait staff always available and remembered our favorite drinks. We don't always tip at all inclusives, but felt compelled to do so here, bec staff worked so hard and so long and were very well trained. Saw the wait staff have their daily meeting at the pool at 11am, for eg. Bring lots of ones and fives, bec change is difficult to get. Beach chairs are always available and you can move them more easily to get sun, since the hotel does block the sun by around 3:30 or earlier depending on where you sit. We just took the opportunity to move around and met more people that way. There were usually lounge chairs off the beach too, but not right around the pool and more in the shade. Food was very good. Alot of variety and plentiful. Never had a problem getting a reservation for dinner at restaurants. Arrived on Monday and chose the buffet the first night, but set up reservations for the next few nights. I was asked if I wanted a restaurant for the first night too. The Japanese and Krystal were our favorites. Ate at all five, but never had the Italian lunch. Don't get the steak at the steakhouse. Too thin and over cooked. But the lamb was good there. Negatives for me: minimal Latin music which I was looking forward to; no disco at this hotel, but you can go to the disco at the riu next door, also all inclusive and we can use their facilities; minimal fish to see when snorkeling from the beach at the hotel (we paid the $35 each to take a 10 min boat ride to snorkel at the reef for an hour and the guide pointed out 2 sea turtles, two stingrays, baracuda, coral and lots of fish.) Also the shows are very weak but not a big deal, except after dinner there is not much to do. Since the pool area empties out by 5 pm since no sun, we had early dinners. An exception was the monday night Michael jackson show. That was good. If you want some sun and relaxation, it is a lovely place to escape the winter. Guests were mostly friendly too. Also Internet wifi only available in the lobby where you see everyone sitting with their devices. Only two public computers, which are free. More seemed available at the riu next door. Our room was on the small side, but we did request and got a kingsize bed, which was ocean view and over the infinity pool. Always had towels and bottled water and soda and beer in the room replaced without asking.
