I stayed at Soberanis hotel with my two children, aged 18 and 20 by then. It was a great choice! It was inexpensive and well located right off intersection of Coba and Tulum Avenues. It was not easy for us to find the hotel because the taxi driver didn’t know how to get to it, in spite of the fact that the address I had downloaded from the internet was clear and complete.
On our arrival at the hotel, we had a problem as the reservation at the hotel had a booking for two people and we were three. The person at the front desk was rather upset and rude. I refused to pay extra as I did have the confirmation provided by the hotel (a reservation for three people) printed. After that minor issue, we had a good time at the hotel. There are some Oxxo and Seven Eleven stores near the hotel, open 24/7. A big supermarket is right next to the hotel too.
Breakfast is included in the price, but it is basic, or perhaps –rather poor I would say! The room was well sized, and it included 2 bottled water, ice bucket, shampoo and soap. Sheets and towels were clean. The air conditioning worked properly. The hotel has no elevator (we were on the 3rd floor).
The staff was polite, with the exception of the man I met on arrival (mentioned before). The price also includes free internet for half an hour every day. It is easy to get to the hotel zone by bus from this hotel as the bus stop is only a few meters away from Soberanis.
Note: The hotel is advertised as a hotel/hostel. In fact, it is a hotel, not a hostel (at least the part where we stayed).
