A group of 10 of us rented 4 suites at Salvia from Dec 10 to 14...4 of us shared the penthouse corner suite, 1A (9th floor). Although it doesnt have private bedrooms, it's very roomy, with 2 bathrooms, full kitchen and a loft bedroom upstairs. We have no complaints at all about the Salvia, the rooms were clean and well equipped. My son and his friend were upgrade to an ocean view when we had booked a lagoon view. The views of the ocean are amazing! The location can't be beat, just steps away from bars, clubs, shopping, restaurants, etc...which is great when you are out partying until the late hours, just 10 second walk back to your hotel. I highly recommend Salvia to anyone!

First of all, sorry this has taken me so long to write, but I stayed at the Salvia again and in the same room. All of the small issues I had previously mentioned in my earlier review were all addressed. We were just there in Nov. 09 and here I was, back March 2010 and there were no more ants, the air conditioner didn't make a sound, it was so quite, I didn’t even know it was on.

The beds now have foam toppers on them!! I slept so soundly, I didn't want to get out of bed in the morning, especially not when your first sight is an amazing view of the ocean. The beach is no longer rocky, they have come in and removed most of the big rocks that were there and have filled it in with sand, there is TON's of beach now. Although, honestly, I didn’t get a chance to go out on the beach as this was a quick business trip, but it looked amazing, miles and miles of sand where there was once just rock. You will just love it; it’s a real beach now. It really is perfect.

It’s so nice to find owners that really listen and actually DO SOMETHING. You guys are the best and I will definitely be back. As a matter of fact, the only place I will stay when I’m in Cancun will be your condo. Outstanding job guys!!!

Had a large group of my daughters and friends going and had stayed here before and this is truly the cheapest way to go if you plan on doing activities/excursions. Oh what a difference 1 yr makes! I believe this property must be under new management because the front desk staff was VERY helpful, there was fresh paint in the front of the building and on the pool, there was always work being done somewhere on the grounds and there is 24 hr security, which was the best.
I rented one of the penthouse units through Travel by Design, which I found on vrbo.com. The penthouse was able to sleep 14 but we only had 9 and found that was perfect. Not sure if it would have been fun with a full house. The rooms were perfect for us and what we were there for, nothing fabulous and luxurious but nice for eating, sleeping and showering. We found only a few complaints about our rooms that we were able to live with. The air conditioning in one of the lofts did not work very well, unless it did and we just couldn't feel it because of the beautiful window that did not have a curtain, and the steps leading to this loft were EXTREMELY wobbly, almost to the point that you could see the bolts holding it move, very scary. Next would be the itty bitty refrigerators, granted we had 2 but you really need a full size with the amount of people these rooms were supposed to hold. Last would be the balcony, you were unable to enjoy the fabulous breeze that's always there because of the wall between the 2 units. My last stay here I had a corner unit and it was great, but this time the wall killed all the breeze which was a little disappointing.
The beach blew my mind! I had heard about it but it was beyond anything I could imagine! A short walk down the beach and you can rent an umbrella, table and 4 chairs for the entire day and they set it up for you. I would also recommend getting a massage from the lady who comes to the Salvia everyday, I'm sorry I didn't remember her name. 30 min for $25 or 1 hr for $50, outside listening to the ocean and much better than anything I've had here at home! Well worth the money! The desk staff was also helpful in finding someone to wash our beach towels. 10 towels for $8, they picked them up and dropped them back off, folded and fresh.
In summary, the Salvia is not a luxurious resort but it looks as if someone is working to improve its appearance. If you're not hard to please and looking for something inexpensive, especially with a large group of people, then Salvia might be for you.

We just returned from a 5 night stay at Salvia. The view from our corner balcony was spectacular!! The location was perfect, especially for our first time in Cancun. We were right next door to the Forum which houses Carlos & Charlies, Rain Forest Cafe, and Hardrock Cafe, to name a few. Everything was very convenient to Salvia. The room was ok, but it easily met our needs. The price was definately worth the view alone!! This is a great way to see Cancun on a budget. The pool was very refreshing and clean.
Due to the recent rebuild of the beach and undercurrents, noone was allowed to swim in the Gulf in front of this building or several others nearby when the lifeguards were on duty. The safe swimming area was just a short walk down the beach.
The desk staff were very helpful and swiftly took care of any needs we had and answered all of our questions.
