negatives: the first night, we found that our room was infected with thousands of these tiny little bugs. We also found pubic hair and more different kinds of bugs dead in the bed sheets. our room also had no hot water. We did not feel safe there at night due to poor lighting. The AC was broken. There is also no beach. Even though we paid our deposit in dollars, they gave it back to us in the end in PESOS. And b/c the currency exchane is weak, we got ripped off. we tried to dispute it with no avail.

we then complained and they switched us to anohter room. it still had bugs (horrible!!!) but the a/c was working and so was the hot water. the breakfast buffet is actually pretty decent. but it was annoying b/c everyime we'd go up, the man behind the buffet would tap his tip cup repeatedly. and as we were sitting and eating, he kept on hitting it and looking at everyone pointedly.

bottom line, dont go here :). it's scary. we ended up spending most of our nights at the much nicer friends that our friends were fortunately put in. the location is not that great and far from the strip as well.

This place was, without overstating, a disgrace to Cancun. It should be shut down and sued. We arrived there, having booked to stay there for a week, to be told by the man at reception that they had no reservation for us, despite me showing him the receipt.I had to wait an hour before the manager decided to show up, who told me the same thing, that there were no rooms left, and then refused to speak to me. We eventually had to contact Airtours who had to find us alternate accomodation, but we were then told we could stay there for one night.DIRTY, DUSTY ROOM, BROKEN AIR CONDITIONING, AWFUL SMELL, GLASS IN THE POOL, UNCOOKED FOOD, RIPPED BED, all made it a 'wonderful' place.

Awful service!!! never had clean sheets put on our bed during the whole week, they stole our ENTIRE groups deposit and said "they couldnt find it"... over 2,000$... rooms were infested with insects, no drinks inside the compound policy, lunch was about 6$ a plate for the worst food you've ever had and the beds were about as soft as a stone.
SERIOUSLY, take my opinion to heart and go somewhere else!!!

We ended up at the Acquasol not by choice, but sent there by International Vacations out of the states, after our original reservation was not honored. To begin with this wholesaler overcharged us by 40% for a 1 or maybe 1.5 star hotel.

Location: The hotel itself is nicely situated on the lagoon side of the hotel strip and is mid-way between downtown and some nice beaches on the hotel strip.

Rooms: Do not settle if you receive a sub-standard room. Our initial room had a smaller bed, than what was requested and paid for. The toilet seat was missing and the advertised satellite TV consisted of one local channel with very poor reception. Upon arrival, we immediately complained and where given a slightly better room. Also make sure to reserve a room that is not facing the Disco "La Boom." The room was generally clean.

Food: The breakfast buffet is very basic, but clean. The restaurant staff are very creative and helpful, considering their limited resources. I recommend that you sample food outside the hotel as there a many good restaurants in Cancun.

Overall this property is clearly a budget hotel that is outdated, and in need of a serious cash infusion but the staff try their best. Make sure that you do not overpay even considering you are supposedly in the begining of the expensive hotel zone area.
