“Hotel Torr-ible Dorada”

I don't know what you guys are talking about.... Torre Dorada is awesome. I would reccomend this hotel to anyone who isn't offended by stinky rooms and crappy food. Who needs the comfort and luxury of a five star resort when you have gross pools and a tiny lobby facing a dirty alley to make your trip extra special? Seriously, this place had next to no ammenities that one would expect a "resort" to have. There is virtually nothing to do except kick yourself for staying at such a hole in the wall. No matter how drunk you plan to get, there is no reason to stay at Torre Dorada. This place makes Motel 6 look like the W. No joke. One surefire way to ruin a trip to Cancun is to stay at the worst hotel ever. Don't do it!

“We cut our vacation short...”

because this place was so awful. We were horrified when we arrived. The rooms were somewhat clean, but still had a bad smell. The hotel was totally empty, the staff didn't really speak English, (though they were pretty nice.) The food wasn't inedible, but it wasn't good. The bar was sad, the pool was so dirty you didn't want to stick a foot in it, and there is a shop outside where they harrass you to buy something everytime you walk by. The hotel itself is off the beaten path, and even though it is a short taxi ride to the main attractions, I would shell out a few extra bucks and just stay in a nicer place!!

“RUN as fast as you can”

If you have time to rebook your vacation I would suggest you do so. This hotel is close to nothing of interest; it is not by the beach or the lagoon. The front door is in an alley. The staff do not seak enough english to help you much. The all inclusive was a joke. There is a street vendors market out the front door that you have to walk through to get to the bus and a bunch of guys that will heckle you on your way. The full size beds are hard as a rock and the hot water tank is only 3 gallons. The business center consisted of 2 coin operated PC's in the lobby with keyboards that do not work and porn popups that appear automatically and will not go away. According to Travelcomm this is a 4 star beach front resort - What a nightmare. Please take my advise and Run!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Good People....Clean Room.......GREAT BARTENDER!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2006

FIRST OF ALL.........TRAVELCOM IS A JOKE, NEVER USE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The hotel was a bit mis-represented. The bar was suppose to open at 10am, but didnt until 3pm, the "snack bar" and pool bar were suppose to open at 12pm, but were non existent. The non existence of the outside bar and late afternoon opening of the bar was probably due to the lack of people staying there. We met 2 other couples while there, and saw maybe a total of 5 all together. Which was ok, no crowded pool, or bar. The hotel is right by the lagoon, but was hard too see, and you couldnt get to it to swim in. The beach was right across the street from the hotel, but wasnt a real nice beach, or was part of a hotel and was hard to get on. Took a bus abt 5 min to a nice beach, so it was no big deal. They were doing a bit of construction on the hotel, but it did not really mess with our stay. The pools were great, and not crowded which was a plus.
Right as we got to the hotel a "travel agent" by the name of Fabian greeted us. He was not really a travel agent in the true sense, he made sure everything was ok, and if you had problems or needed anything first. He was not pushy with the tours he would offer, we went on two tours he told us about, excellent fun! He was truely a nice guy, and had EXCELLENT prices on all the tours.
The room was nice, but had a "window" air conditioner, and we had to plug it in when we got there, but once it got going it was nice. The room was clean, and was kept clean every day. The T.V. was ok, and watching the Simpsons in spanish entertained me greatly! The downside was the bed! Very hard, very uncomfortable, just not good. I woke up about 5 times during every night i was there, and probably didnt sleep past 7:30 am. But im sure having a bad sunburn didnt help either. The food at the resturant was not good at all. The only good thing i had was a club sandwich, but we like to going out to eat, and a pizza place was about 5 minutes away and they delievered. Cancun has some excellent resturants so it was not a huge deal.
The best part of the hotel was probably the bartender. The bar was not the best looking in the world, but it had alcohol so thats all we cared about. Gambino (i hope thats how its spelled) was the bartender, a great person all around. Knew alot about Cancun and Mexico in general. He knew us by name and would go out of his way for us. Even though there was not a bar outside, Gambino made sure if he saw us out there, we would always have a drink by our side. Truely a wonderful person, was always excited too see us stop in. One of the highlites of the vacation. Never a shortage of drinks....and strong drinks at that!!!
I would probably not stay at the hotel again unless i was taking my buddies up for spring break, very economical. For the party crowd this place would be excellent. This is not for a honeymoon, or romantic vacation.
The people....mainly Fabian and Gambino made the place tolerable, and somewhat a pleasure to stay at.

“The place to Party!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2005

We were there when hurricane Wilma hit, even then the staff looked after us. For a 2star hotel the bedrooms were cleaned every day inc new clean towels. Staff very friendly and helpful always willing to please. The entertainment guys arranged parties every night with bus and entry fee for about £17 - £20 each, we went to all the main night spots, they arranged our very own waiters who kept getting you drinks which were inc in the price!. We really enjoyed our holiday and made the most out of our 7 night stay. It's the place to go for a cheap, clean and very friendly hotel.
