“Would not stay again. Partying resort, loud and not clean.”
Here is my review of Oasis Cancun..first of we arrived via Cancun Shuttle. I highly recommend them. Very efficient and reliable. Nicely priced compared to taxi's. We walked into the lobby at the Oasis and was impressed. Fresh flowers, grand water fall, freh juices...nicely landscaped. Our rooms were not ready as expected since we arrived at noon so we ventured to the little cafe to get lunch. The food at the fast food joint was not all that great. Food was cold, dry, bland...but it was ok. We walked out to the pool area and beach which were amazing. After reading the reviews online, I was happy to see how nice this resort was and relaxed a little....but then we were taken to our rooms. When I say rooms, I mean 3 different rooms. We spent our first day of vacation room hopping. The first room we had was a nice view of the pool area and ocean. But when my niece shut the door, part of the ceiling fell. In our room next door, the toilet was leaking from the base forming a little river into the room. So we went to the front desk and were assigned 2 new rooms...this time neither toilet would flush so we were once again moved to a view of the lagoon and highway...not so nice but the rooms were a little cleaner and everything seemed to work. So we spent Sunday thru Wednesday in those rooms until water started pouring down the wall in our room from the unit above and they could not stop it. So once again we packed up and I asked for a manager at this point. We were told they were going to upgrade us to an ocean view at the Grand Oasis next door, which we should have done. But then the said a better upgrade would be to the Grand oasis Palm Beach Resort. So we said fine. But there goes another half of a day of our vacation...packing and moving..checking out...checking in...and it was a beautiful day we could of spent at the beach or diving. The food at the Oasis buffet was great. Good variety however, it did not change but honestly there were so many different options there was enough variety for the week. Not very much traditional American food but I like trying different foods so I was impressed. We also tried the Italian restaurant which was great also. There were lines at popular meal times but I think the most we waited was about 15 minutes. They also brought in a little market one night which as cool. Free show at the Grand pyramid on Monday night was awesome too. You definitely have to go watch this show but get there early if you want chairs. Otherwise you have to stand. This is definitely a resort for younger people. It was partying all day at the pool. Loud music...girls dancing in their bikini's, lots of making out in the pool, boob flashing etc...not for families for sure. Even though there is a family pool, it is connected to the party pool. If you are looking for a party place and not fancy rooms this is a place for you. Nothing here "ruined" our vacation, but I would not return. The maids gave you 2 towels per room even though we had 3 people in our room. We adked for more but were told no. So we just brought our pool towels up and used tose as you can exchange them for a dry towel anytime during the day. No wash clothes, one hand towel for 3 days....oh and there is no sound proofing what so ever. You here everything in the halls. Drunk people coming in all hours of the night. Doors slamming, people yelling...so if you are a light sleeper that will be a problem. At one point I had a conversation with my daughter while I was in the shower. I asked her later how she got into my room and she said I didn't...I was in the hall way. Everything is wood and tile so no sound buffer. The beach is absolutely beautiful there as well as the pool area. But the rooms are musty smelling and in great need of upgrading. I am not a " high class" or fancy person but when I pay for a vacation I expect my rooms to be clean and in working order. I could of stayed here all week and been ok with it. I was happy however that we moved because 2 days it rained all day and I would have been penned up in a musty smelling room. I am the type of person who does not spend a lot of time in the room on vacation so if the weather was decent, I would have survived but this is a 2 1/2 star resort at best. We were moved to the Oasis Grand Palm Beach Resort which I will review also. Must nicer hotel, bigger rooms, better customer service, no balconies, great pool but nasty beach. No waves...lots of seaweed...but they had plenty of chairs and cabana's and beach bars, food and ice cream poolside here.
Oh and just a heads up at the Cancun Oasis, the gave us actual keys. If you lose the $100 to replace them. No key chain...just a key. Wrist band replacement...$100.00. Towel card replacement $50.00. So watch your stuff.
Ask for a room not in the same building as the front desk. It is all open and there is no quiet at...
