We are returning guests of the moon palace nizuc from the uk,this is our 6th time here.We came for my 50th birthday and we loved every minute of it.The best all-round restaurant in my view would be mangler(mangrove)plenty to fill the hungriest of tummies and a good selection, the cooks, chefs and the waiters do a fantastic job and remain cheerful and polite even when confronted by irate americans, who complain over the slightest thing.Im not anti american, but believe me when they enter any room, the decibel level goes up a good few notches.maybe they feel the need to shout?Seek out Jose the restaurant manager,my amigo, and victor lopez, the politest man i ever had the pleasure to call my friend.Enjoy the wine, vina corosa rose, its semi sweet but damned addictive when served ice cold. The best steak is the fillet mignion at the italian on the golf section,im not a pasta fan,but that was delicious.Try the prawn tirriyaki in the oriental restaurants-very nice. There was a guitarist who used to entertain us in the lobby bar area, but they have let him go,which is a real shame, could do with some soft chairs around the lobby area for us old farts. The nightly entertainment could do with an upgrade, the Micheal Jackson show is still a crowd puller ,followed by the circus show, although what that poodle endures makes me shudder!!!We traveled with first choice/thompson and our representative was the very hard working and genuinely sincere Meredith Martinez who regularly can be found doing the salsa classes on an evening before the entertainment begins,This young lady deserves a medal and she goes out of her way to make sure you enjoy yourselfs, one evening we caught her babysitting so a couple could enjoy a night away from the ankle biters.I promised her a nice pen when next we return(next year)she cried when we left for the airport(i have to admit,so did we)I hope we see her again next year.Thompsons has a real asset in her,say hello from terry and denise for us.
Visit xel-ha for snorkelling and take bio degradable sunscreen.
Always have lots of dollar bills for tips, these boys and girls sure earn it.
Only went in the sea at the hotel once, just to say we had been for a paddle, but we were in the pool most mornings, enjoy the cheesburgers at the swim up bar and try the blue lagoons(fairly addictive)
Anyway,we will return again next year.hope to make some new friends of you all.mines a tequilla and coke.cheers!

We stayed at the Moon Palace July 15-19th. The service was absolutely fantastic (See Miguel at the Nizuc bars) and the location is perfect for a low-key vacation. It is one of the first hotels on the way in downtown from the airport, so it is separated off by itself. If you like to be in the mix next to a lot of other resorts, then this place is not for you. It is huge, so be prepared!

We were celebrating my aunt's 50th birthday party (They even had a Happy 50th Birthday cake waiting in the room for her when we checked in), so sipping cocktails by the ocean while getting some summer rays was the absolute best at Moon Palace. If you only want to go out to the downtown bars once and pay a hefty cab, (but are alright with it) then this place is still for you. We mainly hung around and enjoyed what the resort had to offer because we only had a short getaway. But, it is so large, you can find quite a bit to do.

The food is meh. Loved the breakfast buffet, but lunch and dinner were only sufficient. In fact, the best lunch we had was at the Beach Palace buffet because the food just seemed fresher and their service was also fantastic. Just save yourself some sun time and order a chicken sandwich or nachos while hanging out at the pool. But, please for the love of god, do not leave your plate or feed the birds. They were swooping around lunchtime.

I will warn you. The shuttle to the other resorts sounds fantastic, but it does take a while because of all the stops and traffic. It took us an hour to get to the Beach Palace from Moon Palace the day we went, so be prepared when trying to venture out making sure you have enough time to do what you would like. Also, for the love, please get rid of that ginormous hot tub in the rooms! It took up a considerable portion where a sitting couch or just walking room could have been.

Overall, fantastic vacation. Will definitely be traveling back to Cancun within the next couple of years!

Hey all, this is my first review on this website and I want to give as good an account as possible.

First we stayed there from Aug 9-16. We arrived on Sunday ant about 3:45 and was immediately dopped off at Moon Grand (the newer section of the resort). We were very excited as we pulled up because they look wonderful...and they are indeed! We had a small setback when we got to our rooms, they put us in a joint room with a separation door (a hollow one at that) and there had to be a family of atleast 5 staying there and they were so loud arguing, fussing, playing and whatever else they were doing. We have a 2 year old and immediate had home flashbacks. We didn't want to stay there anymore so we called the front and they immediately moved us to another room. It was fast, prompt, painless and forgotten about within minutes the vaction was officially on!

The Good- The service, OMG the service! If this hotel gets credit for nothing else, they should be commened for the outstanding and very attentive service. I must've tipped, over the course of the week about $230. I continuosly gave and gave because it was so amazing how nice the employees and staff were. The food was good but not great, I will admit the ambiance in some of the restauraunts was pretty nice though. But out of 10, I give the food a very genrous 7. Breakfast (buffett) was awesome there were so many choices. I was always excited for breakfast. The rooms were awesome in the Moon Grand. I saw some of the rooms in Nizuc and Sunrise and I was happy that we were where we were. No slight to the other properties but we were on honeymoon and the feel of MG just set the tone for us. I also enjoyed the pool area in the back of the MG the 2 infinity pools were so nice but one was right on the ocean and was so awesome in the evenings. we had lot of fun in there :)

The Bad- Again the food was niether good nor bad so it gets mentioned here too. The bad part about the food was that toward the end of the week me and my wife were both taking turns in the bathroom. Not sure if it was the water or something we ate but, it got us good. The Bee's, yes I said the bees. There was an abnormal amount of bees on the property and we never got stung but just the sure sight of them kind of made it uncomfortable. The beach, as it's been mentioned before is not the greatest but it's not as bad as I thought it was going to be...you just can't get in it (great backdrop though!). Let's see whatelse...oh! the walking get's kind of annoying by the 3rd day but thats to be expected the resort is huge.

Side note- The trip to XCaret, which had nothing to do with moon palace was great. We did the Seatrek where you walk on the botton of the ocean and we sam through the underground caves which was really neat. It's a really long trip though we left the hotel at 10 got there at 12:45 did really get in the park until after one and got back to the roon at about 11pm that night (that's if you stay for the night show which is cool).

Everything else- We went and did some shopping down in the shopping district it was a very nice area with upscale and regular stores, most of the stuff you can get in the states for similar prices. We went and ate at the Cancun Palace which is a beautiful hotel, with a beautiful beach. We went down Flamingo mall which was pretty much a waste of time you can find all that stuff in the airport, hotel shops ect.

we did so much more but that's the jist of our trip. Overall we really enjoyed ourself and we plan on returning and possibly becoming members. I would reccomend this resort to anyone it got the job done, nothing is perfect ....even the 5-star hotels

My wife and I, along with our two children (ages 11 & 15) spent a week at Moon Palace from August 4-11 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The drive from the airport was quick and easy (approximately 10-15 minutes) and we were immediately greeted with a cold towel and were quickly checked in.

The room was absolutely beautiful and very clean. We stayed at the Moon Grande section, which tends to be further away from most of the restaurants but offers a larger room than in the other areas. I think that if was just my wife and I, we would probably have stayed at Sunrise or Nizuc, but with two kids, we will take the extra space anytime. The Grande has two restaurants in the area and three pool areas, but the pools were generally not very populated (we liked that feature).

All of the pool areas were absolutely beautiful and there were normally games like volleyball and water polo played on a daily basis. Continual and friendly service from the bartenders and waitresses made life very easy, including the ability to order food from them at any time.

The beach is fantastic with approximately one mile of perfect sand (continually manicured by the hotel staff) that stretches from one end of the resort to the other. The water is awful (although we are not ocean swimmers anyway) and it was difficult to see to the bottom in even the very shallow areas, Seaweed was plentiful and the staff were continually going up and down the shoreline to remove it as best they could, but it was impossible to get it all. Very few people entered the water and the caution flags were set at red for the entire week.

The food was generally pretty good. Our kids tend to be picky eaters, so we generally went to a buffet, so they could have their choice of food. I would definitely recommend the Brazilian restaurant at Nizuc and I would recommend staying away from the Mexican buffet at Sunrise (we all left disappointed from there). The kids enjoyed the Italian buffet at Nizuc, while my wife and I enjoyed the Caribbean a la carte at Grande and the Mexican a la carte at Nizuc. We heard very good things about the Italian and Oriental restaurants at the golf course, but when we went there it was over a two hour wait to get in (so we went elsewhere). Room service was very good (24 hours and complementary) and had a nice menu to choose from. The kids enjoyed the room service when they need to get out of the heat.

We spent most of our time enjoying the pools, but we did go for one excursion to the Waterpark. My son (11) really enjoyed the wave pool, but my daughter (15) and I thought that the slides were quite pedestrian…I think we have been spoiled by going to better water parks in the past. All in all, however, we had a nice time at the waterpark.

Overall, we had a wonderful time. It was hot & sunny, the service was great & very friendly, the resort was beautiful & very clean, and the room was perfect. If I had one complaint, it was the number of times we were called to go to their “90 minute tour” (even though I had told them we had no interest, we were woken up on two occasions). I eventually unplugged the phone (we weren’t expecting any important calls) and then we had no other interruptions. We will definitely consider going back to this resort when we plan an excursion to the Caribbean again.

I just returned from the Moon Palace in Cancun and it was amazing! This was my second time visiting Cancun and I’m hoping to return back to the Moon Palace the following year. I’ve decided to write this review to inform all the people who plan to visit Cancun, Mexico that the Moon Palace should definitely be on your list of considerations. The 5 star hotel has so much to offer and in order to thank all the people involved with the Moon Palace I’ve decided to write a review to applaud their excellence.

Hotel Room:
-The average room has a Jacuzzi, Fully stacked mini fridge, Power Zoom mirror and a Frameless Shower. The fridge is refilled everyday and the beds are extremely soft and made every day. Each room has a hammock outside along with a 2 seats and a small table. The hammock is a nice place to relax and to enjoy the scenery.
Lobby:
-Once I entered the hotel the staff gave me and my family scented, cool towels to refresh ourselves from the heat. Then my parents were given champagne and my sister and I were given white flowers to welcome us. It was a thoughtful way to welcome my family to the palace resort and the beautiful Cancun.
-The lobby bar at night has an area with live music where people dance and enjoy themselves. The bar is open for drinks and the waiters/waitresses are all very kind, they bring drinks and snacks. You can tell it’s their pleasure to serve you and that you will always be satisfied.
Restaurants & Bars:
-The Moon Palace has 14 restaurants and 9 bars. The Restaurants are either buffet or a la carte meaning by menu. I preferred having a breakfast buffet and dinner a la carte. All the restaurants are diverse with different cuisines such as Mexican, Japanese, Italian, American etc. You can also use transportation to travel to other restaurant in other palaces.
-The service in the restaurants are great, they waiters/waitresses are cautious and helpful. They refill your drinks often and make sure your food in to your satisfaction. While in the buffet restaurants they even offer to carry your plate to the table.
-Each pool has a nearby restaurant which is perfect to enjoy after a swim. My family would go these restaurants for lunch and sometimes a snack. I personally loved it because they had different ice cream everyday and I’m a big ice cream fan. They had vanilla, chocolate, neapolitan, eggnog, tiramisu, mango, coconut and my favorite cheese!
Transportation:
-The Hotel is divided into 2 sections Nizuc and Sunrise, I stayed in Sunrise for 7 nights and it was great. Nizuc and Sunrise have different areas with various names therefore in order to reach the lobby, pool area, restaurants etc you can walk or take a cart driven by hotel staff. These carts run often and will take your desired location within a short time.
-Me and my family stayed in the Moon Palace as all inclusive guests. One of the advantages as an all inclusive guest involves access to all Palace Resorts such as Beach Palace, Cancun Palace, Moon Palace Spa & Golf and Sun Palace (adults only resort). To get to these resorts they’re lobby to lobby buses which provided transportation to all resorts. The 2nd bus has a required pick up time so make sure your on time however I suggest to always be 5-10 minutes earlier for both buses to guarantee a seat.
Entertainment:
-Each night there was a live show with themes either in the Nizuc stage or the Sun Rise. Some of the shows were the Fire Show, Michael Jackson tribute show, the Circus, Karaoke, Pirates, Caribbean Dance, Latin Dance etc. All the shows I saw were creative and entertaining especially the Michael Jackson.
-After the show they usually play music and you can dance along on dance stage, fun songs like the Cha Cha Slide.
Beach:
-The beach isn’t the best there is a lot of sea weed however they clean it up very often. As you walk farther down the beach you’ll find cleaner areas with very little sea weed.
-The beach at the Moon Palace has calm waves which is good for water activities such as jet skiing, parasailing, kayaking etc.
Pool:
-The pools are beautiful; the Moon Palace is the biggest pool in Cancun, Mexico. Each pool has a swim up bar where you can enjoy a drink while you swim.

My overall stay at the Moon Palace was a great experience filled with relaxation and fun. I hope you consider this hotel because by far it’s the best!
